Bachelor of Science [B.S] (Computer Science - Software Engineering)
Field of Study:
$51,738/Yr
As society becomes immersed in the Information Age, the computing discipline has become an integral aspect of our world today. Computer scientists are more than just programmers. They work to solve problems from all walks of life. One may be involved in science exploring the mysteries of the universe and another may be involved in medical research. A computer scientist may be solving problems with engineers in design and implementation projects while another makes extensive use of computers in music, art, or business information processing.
This mission of the School of Engineering and Computer Science results in the following goals:
- To graduate students with a broad-based technical education in engineering and in computer science, an education that fosters an appreciation for the role of the sciences and humanities in society and a commitment to Christian values
- To stimulate students to think clearly, be creative, and communicate effectively
- To promote professional ethics and a sense of civic responsibility, empowering graduates to be leaders in their churches, their communities, and society as a whole
- To foster and maintain programs of professional activity on the part of the faculty that contributes to the disciplines and builds strong alliances with industry, the corporate community, and government
- The Software Engineering Concentration emphasizes the methods used to produce and maintain high-quality software in a systematic, controlled, and efficient manner. It combines computer science with topics more closely associated with engineering, such as quality assurance, project planning, and economic tradeoffs. In addition to Software Engineering I and II, which are required of all B.S.C.S. students, the concentration includes courses in software quality assurance, software project management, and engineering economics.
