Accountants participate in planning, analyzing and steering the activities of firms and individuals; providing tax advice and preparation services; and preparing statistics for private and government surveys. However, accounting is not simply number-crunching.
- Accounting provides information to make investment decisions, extend or withhold credit, and develop or refine corporate strategy. A degree in accounting can be the first step towards earning a CPA, being a tax attorney, or becoming the CFO of a company.
- The Anderson MACCT prepares students with or without accounting backgrounds in the accounting profession to be experts in areas such as taxation, information assurance, auditing, finance, fraud, and managerial accounting.
- With individualized attention from the MACCT staff and professors, students obtain the skills and analytical thinking to become CPAs and leaders in their field. All concentrations in the MACCT program are 33 credit hours and prepare students to take the CPA exam upon completion.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
- Must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States or its equivalent in another country. (Accelerated programs, BBA-MACCT, 3-2 MBA, and 2+1+2 don’t have this requirement at time of application submission.)
- Must have a GMAT/GRE score of 500 or better; OR receive a GMAT/GRE waiver.
- Must have a GPA of 3.0 or better in the last 60 hours of coursework. (PE credits are not included in this calculation)
- BBA-MACCT applicants must complete the BBA-MACCT Supplemental Application, It must completed the semester prior to the final semester of the BBA.
- Applicants must have a minimum cumulative UNM GPA of 3.25 or higher.
- Applicants must have completed accounting courses MGMT 340, 341 and 346 with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher in those three courses.
