Toronto Film School at Yorkville University is one of the top Film Schools to study in Canada. Campus and Accommodation

  • The Toronto film school has four campuses; Steeles campus, Davisville campus, Dundas A, and C campus.
  • Though there are no students clubs and organizations, students involve themselves in hands-on projects which keep them engaged working with other students
  • Students can showcase their most amazing works on the school’s website through the Student Showcase section.
  • It has an international partnership with Beijing Film Theatre and the Shanghai Film Academy to facilitate student and faculty exchange programs.
  • Its library contains a variety of electronic and print-based reference resources, CD-ROM and Internet access, lab learning, and study-able environment space.
  • There is a book store, an online campus, and a campus store encompassing everything a student needs.

Housing facilities/Residence

  • Toronto Film School campus does not have any on-campus housing accommodation or residence. However, the school helps with few resources for students to move-in preferably close to campus.
  • It maintains a list of residences such as shared apartments, private rooms, and home stay arrangements with local families.
  • There is a homestay opportunity; wherein students stay with a host family. Here, students have access to the house, as well as television, laundry, and the Internet.
  • Homestay costs approximately 750 CAD per month and provides all basic facilities like television, laundry, internet etc.
  • The final agreements are made between the student and the property owner.
  • There are also arrangements for finding temporary or short term residences until students finalize the long term residence.

Toronto Film School Application Process

Toronto Film School Canada has the intake month of October. Students must apply well before the time otherwise they would be considered for the next admission cycle.

Application fee (non-refundable): CAD 100 for all programs, except for Film Production (CAD 500).

Basic Admission Requirements:

  • An Ontario secondary school diploma (grade 12) or any equivalent.
  • Notarized translated secondary (including any post-secondary) transcripts
  • Mature student test: for a student who is over 18 and is not enrolling directly from secondary school.

The applicants who are non-native English speakers’ needs to provide evidence of their English proficiency by submitting the results of one of the following tests:

Toronto Film School Cost of Attendance

For all the prospective candidates hoping to enroll at the institute in the upcoming sessional year, an estimated cost of living in Canada has been tabulated below.

  • Within two days of payment or contract, Students can cancel a payment with written notice of cancellation.
  • Every student is entitled to a refund of fees paid for a program; however, The Toronto Film School is allowed to retain 20% of the total fees for the program. (whichever is less).

Scholarships/ Financial Aid

  • There are a variety of options open to students at the Toronto film school on financial aid. Bursaries, grants, loans and scholarships in Canada for international students are available.
  • The institute gives in addition to waiving off the application fee.
  • Irrespective of when students receive scholarships, grants, or loan payment, tuition payments must be made at least before the last two weeks to the start of each semester.

It provides temporary financial assistance to unemployed Canadians and students (eligibility is only open to Ontario residents only).
