I was scouted by the soccer team and given the scholarship to join this University and play CIS soccer. The school also had a range of great programs a lot of flexibility, low tuition, and I had friends and family going there. It was close to home, affordable, nice campus, parking and living options nearby. I love math and sciences. The courses went well for me. There's a range of opportunities in engineering and they also are aiming to increase female participation. I excelled in my course and made great friends. I maintain a 3.0 GPA whilst playing university soccer for four years. I discovered I loved coding and computer science. Engineering has a massive range of jobs you can go into and it helps you towards a job that can serve the public or make the world a better place. I think I'd like to do work that addresses climate change and I think it's important we work towards stopping and mitigating the environmental crisis we are in.

Course Curriculum

8

I think it's a well-designed curriculum and I think it covers a large basis of topics. I think it provides you with all the tools and techniques and abilities to excel in the work-force in the future for whatever field you choose to go into.

Placement

7

Some placements are amazing and others I know are not. For myself, I had an amazing placement last year working at my city's Bell MTS head office, and now this year again I have a great placement at an engineering consultant. However, both these jobs I found on my own, weren't co-op posting jobs.

Internship

Yes, we have co-op programs for numerous faculties and practicum programs as well. I am in the co-op program. I don't find it to be super great or helpful but I know some other students value it a lot. It's very possible to get engineering work on your own without it so that's why I don't value it.

Events

9

Some of the events are Engineering week, Women in engineering, Terry Fox, Fresh fest and Remembrance Day.

Fees

Approximately $6500 a year for a Canadian citizen. Approx $1200 a year for an international student. There are loans form the government available, numerous scholarships and bursaries available, and entrance scholarships and atheistic scholarships available. There are multiple forms of aid you just have to apply.

Scholarship

Yes, I get student aid form the government. Depends on age, annual income, what program and how many courses you are in.

Examination Structure

There are typically midterms and finals. Midterm worth 15-30 % and finals worth 30-60%. I think the structure is fine. Other assignments or labs might contribute to grade as well.

Faculty

8

I think it's well designed. I think it is very challenging but as well that can also be a good thing since only the most capable students aren't able to pass.

Hostel

7

I lived at home with parents, this saved a lot of money. Most students I know rent houses in the nearby area and split rent and it's most affordable. Some people I know pay rent between $400 a month and $500 a month and bus or walk a short distance to the university.
