Dalhousie University offers a Master of Electronic Commerce for a duration of 2 years.
It is an on-campus, thesis-based program offered on a full-time.
This interdisciplinary program is rooted in Dalhousie’s faculties of Computer Science, Law, and Management.
The courses are usually taken during the terms Fall-1, Winter-1, and Fall-2, while the terms Summer-1, Winter-2, and Summer-2 are used for internships or individually-supervised research.
The research component features three options:
- A research paper, 2 additional courses and an internship
- A project and an internship
- A thesis that focuses on producing novel research. This does not include an internship.
Students study core topics in each of the three areas and can then concentrate on some topics by choosing electives from the Technology, Business, Law, and Policy study areas.
In the thesis stream, students have to take 8 courses + thesis. The thesis requires a primary supervisor who is a full-time Dalhousie faculty member from one of the 3 faculties (Computer Science, Law, or Management).
In the research project stream, students have to take 8 courses, an internship, and a research project.
students work on their project under the guidance of their supervisor and will prepare their final project report taking 2 academic terms (8 months).
In the research paper stream, students have to take 10 courses, research papers, and have to complete an internship.
The research paper must be augmented with two additional available courses relevant to the area of specialization.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

Students should have completed a 4-year bachelor's degree in computer science or related field from a recognized university.
A minimum GPA of at least 3.0/4.33 (B grade) in the last 60 credit hours of study is required to be eligible for the program.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:

Completed a 4-year UG degree with an upper second class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
Students with bachelor's degrees in computer science or engineering from Indian universities are encouraged to submit their JEE or GATE scores.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
