St. Stephen’s University Canada offers degree programs in humanities, social sciences, International Studies, Community Engagement, and Psychology. International applicants planning to apply for courses at the university must have a GPA over 70% and an IELTS score of 6.5. Admission at St. Stephen is conducted on a first-come-first-accepted basis, not on the highest GPA student's basis. St. Stephen’s University International Students Admission

St. Stephen University offers liberal arts education with a mix of spiritual development and extended world travel. Programs are offered in humanities, psychology, theology, etc. Admission slots in St. Stephen are limited and only students who apply early are given a chance at the school

Applications Process for International Students

  • Completion of the online application form
  • Submission of a response to SSU Community Values Statement through one of the following media:
    • A paragraph (of approximately 250 words) on SSU Community Values Statement form
    • Brief video presentation sent to ssu@ssu.ca
    • A phone call with the admission team.
  • Submission of academic records, transcripts and other supporting documents directly to SSU
  • Confirmation of enrolment by depositing a non-refundable advance tuition fee of 200 CAD for undergraduate programs and 500 CAD for graduate programs

English Proficiency Test Score for International Students

International students whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate English language proficiency by presenting one of the following English language test results:

Note:

  • Minimum scores for acceptable tests are the same for the undergraduate and postgraduate programs

  • On some rare occasions, the admission team may waive the English language test requirement for applicants who show fluency in the use of English during the application process and the oral interview

Visa Application Process for International Students

To study at St. Stephen University in Canada, students have to apply for a study permit/ Canadian Student Visa and applicants must possess a passport that lasts longer than the program duration. Applicants can apply for a visa at their Canadian country embassy or their website, right after admission has been granted and the general requirements are listed below. The standard GPA admission criterion is a 70% combined average of Applicant's university-prep Grade 12 courses. However, applicants whose GPA is below 70% can be admitted if he/she can demonstrate the hope of a successful academic performance in one or more of the following ways:

  • A reference from a teacher or academic source attesting to a student's academic ability to complete a degree if admitted.
  • A written explanation by applicants stating reasons for his/her low GPA with reasons for the expectation of a good performance at SSU.
  • A statement describing a medical condition that impeded learning.
  • An impressive plan or roadmap for academic success with a partnership with an academic mentor

St. Stephen’s University Graduate Admissions

St. Stephen University offers programs like Master of Ministry in Theology & Culture, Master of Arts in Theology & Culture, and Diploma in Theology & Culture all in the department of Theology and Culture. The graduate school also offers a graduate certificate in Religion, Peace, and Justice

Requirements for Students without an Undergraduate Degree

  • Must be 30 years above
  • A minimum work experience of year in a relevant field
  • An overall average of A- on preliminary year

A 200 CAD Confirmation Fee is required for Undergraduate applicants prior to the commencement of the student’s first term, and full payment is required at the beginning of the term unless the student has proof that he/she will be in receipt of student loan funds. In that case, the balance owed beyond the amount of loans being granted is payable at the beginning of the term. The students applying for Graduate programs will have to pay a deposit of 500 CAD for enrollment. Also, all the students will have to sign a Student’s Contract.

Ques. What is the mode of delivery of the certificate in Religion, Peace, and Justice?

Ans. The course is online where Reputable Guest Lecturers lectures students via the online channel

Ques. Are the fees for international students different from the fees for domestic students?

Ans. All students including Canadian, US, and International students pay the same fees

Ques. Is St. Stephen a residential institution?

Ans. Yes, St. Stephen is a residential school. Accommodation is provided within the community. If the accommodation space is exhausted, students may be required to stay at other apartments

Ques. What is academic good standing?

Ans. To remain in good standing, students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0. Transcripts in this case will include the note that the student is “in good standing” and has completed such and such a term or year of the program.

Ques. Can I change my course after being admitted?

Ans. Course changes are permitted only up to the end of the second full week of classes. Courses dropped within the first two weeks of classes will not appear on transcripts. Courses dropped after that time will appear on transcripts with the letter “W” (for Withdrawn) indicated in place of a grade.
