In addition, it is a partner in a number of interdisciplinary graduate programs, such as Engineering Management, Systems Science, and E-Business Technologies.
- Each of these programs has its own section in the graduate calendar. All the programs are governed by the general regulations in effect for graduate studies.
- The MBA program is conceived for candidates with at least three years of work experience.
- Accelerate your MBA and complete the program in one year (offered in English only) to move onto your next challenge or maximize learning and career development simultaneously with our professional 2-year program (offered in English or French).
- The Telfer School of Management also offers an Executive MBA (EMBA) program which is designed for mid-career and senior-level executives who seek Global, Practical, and Relevant experience all while earning a graduate degree.
- The program provides a strong foundation in all management disciplines, develops management and people skills, and refines the students' ability to view and analyze issues, opportunities, and situations from a strategic perspective, allowing them to become responsible agents of change.
- Emphasis is placed on the applications of relevant, contemporary management concepts, models, and philosophies with an integrated approach to problem-solving and an appreciation of all aspects of the organization.
- The pedagogical approach stresses teamwork and managerial skills development. It allows the student to grapple with real-world challenges facing organizations through industry-based integrating projects that draw upon multiple disciplines.
- The student population is drawn from around the world and brings to the program a variety of educational backgrounds as well as professional expertise from the private and public sectors.
- The program combines academic excellence with a strong concern for the practical challenges facing modern managers. To this end, it makes significant use of practitioner-oriented teaching materials and business simulations and allows students to become actively involved with organizations.
CONCENTRATIONS:
- In the English professional and intensive MBA, you can customize your degree to gain the specialized skills and expertise that employers want.
- Select from one of four concentrations that include Digital Transformation & Analytics (DT&A), Finance, Management Consulting, and Sustainable Management.
- Note that concentrations are offered based on availability and sufficient demand. They may not be available to each cohort.
- The French professional MBA allows you to complete your degree with a concentration in Management Consulting.
OPTIONAL INTERNSHIPS:
- Put your knowledge and skills into practice right away. The optional internship, (6 units), would normally be pursued over two terms, but could also be compressed into one.
- Students who wish to take the additional internship option will declare that after completing their first term in the program. They will be informed about the process and eligibility criteria during that term.
ENGAGING TEACHING:
- Fifty students—that is the maximum number of students in each cohort of our program.
- They keep the overall cohort and individual class sizes small so that the program itself and every course within it are engaging, providing meaningful opportunities for you to participate thoughtfully with your professors and peers.
- For the professional MBA in French, if you reside in the National Capital Region, you are required to attend both in-person and online courses.
- If you live outside Ottawa, you may attend online distance learning courses at the same time as your on-campus peers.
- Teaching strategies are based on the active participation of the students.
- The strategies typically used in the classroom (small group work, debates, problem solving, case studies) are also suitable for hybrid learning.
- In addition, the online learning platform tools that are used (chat, polls, whiteboard, virtual workspaces) facilitate remote engagement.
