About SIMS
Shimoga Institute of Medical Sciences started in 2005 is a private autonomous university in Shimoga, Karnataka. SIMS Shimoga is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) and is recognized by the Medical Council of India. The institute is spread over 25 acres of land located in Bangalore – Honnavar highway. SIMS Shimoga offers admission to MBBS courses at the UG level and MD, MS and Diploma courses at the PG level. The institute also offers admission to B.Sc courses in the field of paramedical sciences. Admission to all the courses is based on NEET UG and NEET PG scores followed by the counselling conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) at the state level and the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) at the All India level.

The library consists of various medical books, journals and research papers to aid students in the enhancement of the latest medical innovations. The library is open from 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM on weekdays and 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM on weekends. SIMS Shimoga also offers a well-equipped laboratory with all the required equipment and surgical tools where students are provided hands-on training individually.
