Tolani Maritime Institute (TMI) Pune Admission 2024: Registration (Ongoing), Courses, Fees, Dates, Eligibility, Selection Process

TMI, Pune offers B.Tech course with a specialization in Marine Engineering for a duration of 4 years. The TMISAT is the first stage of the selection process for the B.tech aspirants which includes 80 questions further divided into four sections including behavioral assessment.

The admission process will include the candidates’ merit in 10+2 PCM subjects, IMU CET rank along with other selection procedure. 

Eligibility

• Candidates should 10+2 qualifying with minimum 60% marks in PCM subjects and minimum 50% marks in English in Class X or Class XII.
• Must have a Valid IMU CET rank to be eligible for the selection process.
• Candidates must have a passport at the time of the admission process.
• Must have 0.5 unaided distance vision/ 0.67 vision in the better eye/ 0.33 vision in the other eye.

Selection Criteria

• TMISAT - The online test includes the main test paper with a total of 80 questions divided into four sections along with a behavioral assessment for testing the aptitude of the aspirants.
• Medical Test - The DGS approved examiners will conduct the Medical examination of the aspirants. This medical examination will test the fitness level of the candidates for fitting into the sea service.
• Personal Interview - The panelist of the intuit conducts the PI round that evaluates the candidates’ ability for being suitable in seafaring career.
• The final merit list is prepared based on the merit of the candidates in 10+2 PCM, rank in IMU CET, Performance in TMISAT, PI round, and medical examination.

Lateral Entry into 2nd Year of B.Tech. Marine Engg. Program

TMI also offers lateral entry into 2nd year of B.Tech. Marine Engg. program depending upon the eligibility criteria as laid down by IMU and availability of seats at TMI. Students applying for admission into 2nd year B.Tech. Marine Engg. must be unmarried and less than 24 years of age. Candidates must have passed:

• 3-years Engineering Diploma in Marine /Mechanical/Electrical/Electrical & Electronics with minimum 55% of aggregate marks OR
• 4-years Diploma in Shipbuilding Engineering with minimum 55% of aggregate marks OR
• 1st year training from the Alternate Training Scheme OR
• 1st year from the Engineering College in other streams like Mechanical or Electrical with minimum 60% average marks OR
• 3 years Diploma course in the following categories with minimum 55% of aggregate marks in the last year of Diploma Course:
  • Mechanical Engineering Stream:
    Automobile/Machine Tools and Maintenance/Plant Engineering/Production Technology/Production Engineering/Advanced Diploma in Tool and Die Making
  • Electrical Engineering Stream:
    Electrical Power System
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering Stream:
    Digital Electronics/Electronics and Communications/Electronics and Telecommunication/Industrial Electronics/Electronics/Electronics Production and Maintenance/Instrumentation/Instrumentation and Control Engineering

The institute offers B.Sc course with specialization in Nautical Science. It is a 3-year full-time course which includes one-year of sea service, followed by Second mate’s Examination. After qualifying, the students are eligible for applying for Third officers post on Merchant navy ships in India or aboard.

Eligibility

• Candidates must have passed the HSC examination from a recognized board.
• Candidates must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in Class XII PCM subjects and a minimum of 50% marks in English papers either in Class 10 or Class XII.
• Must have qualifying IMU CET entrance test.
• Aspirants need to have a valid eyesight test report with meeting the required point for distance vision, better eye, and other eye.
• It is also compulsory to have a passport for being eligible for the admission procedure.

Selection Criteria

• The final candidates are shortlisted based on 10+2 PCM marks, IMU CET rank, followed by TMISAT marks, PI, and Medical examinations.
• After scrutiny of the eligible candidates with IMU CET ranks, TMISAT is commenced by the institute which is an online test of 120 minutes (90 minutes for the main test and 30 minutes for Behavioral assessment).
• DGS approved examiners visit the institute for conducting medical tests for the testing suitability of the aspirants in sea service.
• Lastly, PI rounds conducted by TMI panelists that include campus faculty members and external experts who judge the aspirants’ ability to be in seafaring career along with information in the application, TMISAT merit.

The Higher National Diploma course is offered by TMI, Pune which is awarded by City of Glasgow College. The details is given below:

Eligibility

• Candidates must have 10+2 qualification with PCM subjects and minimum 50% marks.
• Or, Must have Diploma in specializations such as Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering.
• Or must have B.Sc degree in relevant subjects such as chemistry, mathematics, and physics.
• Candidates will need to appear in IELTS examination for english proficiency test within first year admission.
• Must have passed the IELTS test with a minimum 5.5 score.
• Must have medical fitness as per the guidelines of International Maritime Standards.
