Walchand College of Engineering (WCE), established in 1947, is ranked 168th among the engineering colleges in India by the NIRF 2020 rankings. The college awards Diploma, UG, PG and Ph.D. courses in engineering which are recognized by AICTE. Eligibility for UG and PG courses is 10 + 2 passed and bachelor’s degrees passed respectively. Admissions to all the courses is done on the basis of entrance examination and through CAP.

Walchand College of Engineering Admission

For Diploma Programmes

The admission process of Polytechnic Diploma is handled by the office of the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra State, and Mumbai.
Students need to apply online through the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra.
The candidates get shortlisted based on the Centralized Admission Process (CAP), conducted by (DTE).

For UG Programmes

Candidates must have completed 10 + 2 from a recognized board.
Candidates belonging to Maharashtra State have to appear for MHT-CET.
Other candidates will be selected on the basis of JEE Main score.
The admission for first-year engineering degree courses is done through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP).
To become eligible for CAP the candidates need to register their application online. They can visit the website of Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra, and fill-up the form.

For PG Programmes

Candidates must have completed graduation in the relevant field to be eligible for this course.
Candidates belonging to Maharashtra State and Other than Maharashtra State (OMS) have to appear for GATE.
The admission for postgraduate engineering degree courses is done through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP).

For Ph. D. Programmes

Candidates must have completed a master's degree from a recognized university in a relevant field.

The candidates need to appear for a Common Entrance Test and Interview/Viva-Voce conducted by Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
Candidates admitted through QIP Research center of AICTE need not appear for CET.
The admissions shall be processed through the (Department Research Committee/Central Research Committee).

How to apply?

The candidates have to apply through the DTE website.
Upload specified documents, pay the requisite application fee, submit the filled-in form, and obtain a printout of the confirmation page.
The applicants have to appear for CAP for shortlisting and seat allocation on the basis of entrance score and course/ college preferences. GATE qualified candidates are also allocated seats through the CAP.
Shortlisted candidates then report to Application Form Receipt Centre (ARC) as per different CAP Rounds.
Finally, they report at the allotted institution for admission with required documents and fees within specified deadlines.

I chose to do this course because it is the best course for the computer department. The college offers the best opportunities in the computer field for their students.

The training and placement cell of our college has made an excellent record till date, and there is no doubt that it will be improving day by day.
As it is situated in Sangli, a good city where everything is available, Walchand becomes the best option for engineering.
Campus life is awesome and filled with greenery. The gender ratio is well balanced with great diversity; students from all over India are on campus. Recently, a foreign seat has also been made available.
The hostel infrastructure is not as good as it should be considering the college was established in 1947. However, the college makes an effort to provide better facilities as much as possible.
Walchand College of Engineering has the best education faculty and offers the best placements with a good campus area.

Dislike

The scholarship system is very bad. Students have to go through a lengthy procedure when filing the scholarship forms, and many errors arise during the process, causing further delays.
Hostel environment is not good in this college. Because of some rowdy boys, hostel life has become scary. Rooms are also not clean and food is not very hygienic. We all are from South India

Students who have completed their 12th or 10+2 are eligible to take admission into this course. The course cutoff in 2020 was 1400 rank in the MHTCET exam. MHTCET is an exam that is responsible for the admission of students into Maharashtra-wide colleges.

Eligibility for the course is class 12th with physics chemistry maths as a subjects in class 12th The application form is available in college as well as one can apply online. I don't have availed reservation although there is a reservation for backward

After cet cell Maharashtra declared cet result then they open the application form for all students who are eligible. Many students got admission through the reservation system According to rules by the Maharashtra government. The admission process is quite smooth.

All details regarding admission were published on the website of wce and sir also told me when I came here for the admission process.

The admission was via MHT CET exam. The application process for that exam was via CET cell. After the display of the Mark list, we were asked to select the desired college list and after some time we were given the cutoff and branch.
