NISER boasts a highly qualified faculty with a strong balance between research and teaching, most being graduates from top institutions globally. The faculty-to-student ratio is approximately 1:10, improving after the first year when students select their streams. Faculty members are approachable, residing on campus, and are known for their friendliness and availability.
In theoretical chemistry, the faculty is limited to three members specialized in computational chemistry. The evaluation system includes 4 to 5 exams per course, with grades determined by quizzes, mid-semester, and end-semester exams, following a letter grade and CGPA system. Despite the strong faculty, approximately 5% of students fail a course each year.
Faculty provide modern teaching methods, incorporating exciting projects alongside traditional exams, and support internship programs.
