Colleges may call depending on numerous variables. IIMs rarely call candidates without a 95+ percentile. IIMs exclusively accept top academic and overall candidates. Other colleges like FMS, XL, SPJIMR, and MDI assess the candidate's whole profile, giving them a little edge. These institutions consider work experience, extracurriculars, and leadership skills in addition to academic performance.
Even after being accepted to a top college, a candidate's academic performance may affect their placements, which could damage their job chances. The only thing candidates can control is their CAT/XAT score. So they should try their best and then decide.
NMIMS is well known for its Finance specialization. Many might consider its huge Finance intake or the entire batch size, in general, a drawback. But if we compare the placement reports of SIBM Pune and NMIMS Mumbai, the latter is visited by most of the top Finance companies. Most companies in the Finance sector prefer NMIMS over other B Schools and students who are Finance enthusiasts too prefer NMIMS over other B Schools. The main reasons pertaining to this preference are
Finance companies give more preferences to your knowledge and inclination towards the domain rather than your work experience. The only drawback of NMIMS is its high fees and lack of campus life. But the Finance roles offered are good enough to overshadow this flaw.
Don’t go for IIM Visakhapatnam if you are just attracted by the IIM tag. While it surely is part of the IIM family that does not necessarily mean it has the same standards. Between the two, SIBM Pune gives a slight edge to IIM Visakhapatnam. If you talk about them generally they definitely are good institutions, but they are not the best. IIM Visakhapatnam is not yet recognised at SIBM Pune.
But if your preference is staying in your hometown or other location factors and IIM Visakhapatnam is suitable for you, then go for it. Both are almost similar in terms of worth and academics. At the end of the day it’s not the institution but your own performance that matters.
The likelihood that you will be admitted to SIBM, SCMHRD, or SIIB depends on a number of variables, including your academic performance, work experience (if any), performance on the admission exam, and performance in the selection process (group discussion and personal interview).
In general, entrance to SIBM and SCMHRD requires a solid profile because they are very selective business schools. A renowned B-school as well, SIIB may have a little less competition.
You should aim for a high percentile on the entrance exam (CAT or SNAP), have a strong academic record, and have relevant work experience (if applicable) to boost your chances of getting into these B-schools. Additionally, since the group discussion and personal interview rounds are so important to the selection process, it is critical to prepare effectively for both.
