Institute of Technology, Nirma University Admission 2024: B.Tech. Admission, Cut Off, Application form

Institute of Technology, Nirma University offers B.Tech program in nine different specializations covering the major streams of Engineering and Technology. Admission to the B.Tech courses to Nirma University are based on the merit list of JEE Main. Institute of Technology, Nirma University offers BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Security, IoT and Cloud Computing, Structural Engineering, and Construction Technology & Management.

Key Points regarding admission:

• For B.Tech admission seats are distributed as 50% for ACPC Category Seats, 35% for All India Category Seats (through JEE (Main) and 15% NRI / NRI sponsored Category by Nirma University.
• For B.Tech admission, seats reserved under NRI category will be filled in by the candidates who have passed the Qualifying Examination from the schools located abroad. Other seats under general category will be filled in based on the All India Rank (AIR) of JEE Main.

Institute of Technology, Nirma University offers M.Tech degree program under 10 different specializations covering almost all aspects of Engineering and Technology. These include MTech in VLSI Design, Embedded Systems, Computer Science and Engineering, CSE with specialisation in Information and Network Security, CSE with specialisation in Data Science, Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM), Thermal Engineering, and Civil Engineering (Computer Aided Structural Analysis and Design – CASAD).

Admission into the M.Tech program is done on the basis of marks scored in GATE. After the admission of GATE applicants if any vacancy remains then the same will be filled by Non GATE applicants based on the merit of the All India Basis written test to be conducted by Nirma University.

Note: Nirma university also offers M.Tech (By Research) which is 3 years programme. It lays emphasis on multidisciplinary and rigrous learning and research work.

Eligibilty:

M.Tech Regular

1. Candidates must have done graduation in engineering/ technology from the recognised institute with minimum %age prescribe by AICTE.
2. Candidates appearing for the final semester will have to provide the degree or result as soon as the result is declared. Candidates also have to provide the certificate from the Head of institute assuring that candidate has appeared for the examination.
3. Candidates whose results are declared in CGPI have to obtain the certificate with equivalent marks percentage from the concerned university.
4. Candidates (All Category) other than Nirma University have to produce the eligibility certificate from Nirma University at the time of counselling by paying INR 1000.

M.Tech by Research

1. Candidate must be graduate in Engineering/Technology from reconginsed university with minimum required marks prescibe by AICTE.
2. Candidates opting for (M.Tech by Research -External) ) should have 3 years of experience in R&D within a organisation or institute after graduation. 

Selection Process:

M.Tech Regular

1. Candidates those who have appeared for GATE but they have not qualified score. They will be considered as Non GATE candidates and have to appear for written test.
2. Syllabus for the test is same as of GATE exam. There will be 60 objective type questions of 1 mark each. Duration of test is 1 hour.
3. If seats are filled by GATE candidates, then there will be admission offered to NON GATE candidates.

M.Tech by Research

There will be an interview conducted on campus by the panel which includes Dean of Faculty, Head of Department and Department Faculty.

Tie Breaker

In case candidates have equal GATE or written test scores then they will be evaluate on the following basis:

• Percentage of Qualifying Examination
• Percentage of 8^th semester of qualifying exam
• If reseult is awaited then percentage of 7^th semester
• Elder candidate will be given preference

Note:

• Candidates selected after document verifucation will be given admission on same day. 
• Students who are selected after admissions are required to bring their own laptops for the study and lab related work.
• There is 15% supernumerary seats for PIO and Foreign Nationals. Out of which 1/3^rd is for the Children of Indians working in Gulf and South- East Asian Countries.

In addition to the M.Tech program, Institute of Technology, Nirma University also offers Master of Computer Application (MCA) program at the postgraduate level.

Admission to the Master of Computer Application (MCA) Course shall be given as under:

• All the Government Seats shall be filled on the basis of merit list prepared by the Admission Committee.
• All the Management Seats shall be filled by the management of the respective Professional Educational.

For the purpose of admission, a candidate shall have appeared in the CMAT (Common Management Aptitude Test) as prescribed by AICTE, for the corresponding year.

For the purpose of admission to the first year of the Master of Computer Application (MCA) courses, available seats shall include,-

• Government Seats:
  • All the sanctioned seats of the Master of Computer Application (MCA) course in the Government Colleges or Institutions of the State
  • All the sanctioned seats of the Master of Computer Application (MCA) course in the aided Colleges or Institutions
  • Seventy-five percent of the total sanctioned seats of the Master of Computer Application (MCA) course in the unaided Colleges or Institutions, and
  • All supernumerary seats of the professional courses in the Government colleges or institutions and in the aided and unaided Colleges or Institutions.
• Management Seats:
  • Twenty-five percent seats of the total sanctioned seats of the Master of Computer Application (MCA) course in the unaided Colleges or Institutions, including fifteen percent Non-Resident Indian (NRI) seats
  • The intimation received, in respect of sanction of seats, by the Admission Committee three days prior to the commencement of the first counselling program, shall be considered as available seats
  • If any unaided College or Institution requests to fill up the Management Seats by the Admission Committee, three days prior to the commencement of the counselling program, such Management Seats shall also be considered as available for giving admission, and
  • The unaided college or institution shall fill up the Management Seats up to 5 % of the sanctioned intake from the students of the out of the State, on the basis of CMAT of corresponding year and inter-se merit prepared in accordance with the provisions of rule 11 irrespective of whether such candidate has applied to the Admission Committee or not, subject to the conditions that the student fulfils the eligibility criteria for admission prescribed under these rules and has passed the qualifying examination from the recognized University/Institute.

Reservation of Seats :

• For the purpose of admission, the seats shall be reserved for the candidates who are of Gujarat origin and falling under the following categories and in following proportion, namely, Scheduled Castes : 7 %, Scheduled Tribes : 15%, Socially and Educationally Backward Classes, including Widows and orphan of any caste : 27%, Unreserved Economically Weaker Sections : 10%.
• Three percent of the available seats in each category shall be reserved for the persons with disability who can perform the academic activities in the respective course. A candidate with disability shall have to submit certificate of disability issued and duly signed by the Civil Surgeon.
• One percent of available seats shall be reserved for the children of Defence personnel and Ex-Servicemen.
• The seats remaining vacant against the category of Defence Personnel and Ex-Servicemen shall be filled up from the merit list of unreserved category candidates.
• The children of Defence Personnel and Ex-Servicemen of Gujarat origin shall be included under the reserved category specified in this rule, if they have passed the qualifying examination from the college or institute located outside the Gujarat State and have appeared in the Common Management Aptitude Test (CMAT) as prescribed by AICTE, conducted in the corresponding academic year.
• Two supernumerary seats in each college or institute shall be filled by the candidates who are migrants of the State of Jammu and Kashmir, in accordance with the directions from the All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi and Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, subject to the eligibility criteria prescribed in these rules. Such candidate shall be exempted from appearing in the Common Management Aptitude Test (CMAT) as prescribed by AICTE.

List of Courses:

Institute of Technology, Nirma University offers Ph.D program in diversified specializations of Engineering at the doctoral level.

Admission will be done on the basis of an entrance test will be conducted for the eligible candidates which will be followed by an interview by a expert panel appointed by the University. An interview / viva-voce to be organized by the University when the candidates are required to discuss their research interest / area through a presentation before the Department of Research Committee. Final merit shall be based on the merit of interview / viva-voce.

• The candidates who qualify the UGC-NET (Including JRF) UGC-CSIR NET (Including JRF) SLET/ GATE/GPAT with a valid score in terms of cut-off marks and duration, teacher fellowship holder or who have passed M.Phil program shall be exempted from appearing in the entrance test and deemed to be qualified for personal interview.
