Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray College (VJRC), established in 1950, is a government aided liberal arts college located in Kolkata. VJRC is affiliated to the University of Calcutta and offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

- Only those students who studied under west Bengal council of H.S. Education / C.B.S.E / I.S.C and other recognized boards which are approved by the University of Calcutta are eligible to apply.

Admissions to the M.Sc. course is done for candidates having a B.Sc. degree (10+2+3 system) from a recognized Board/University with Microbiology as Honours/Major subject and with minimum aggregate marks of 40%.
Admission is done on the basis of marks secured in the Entrance exam conducted by University of Calcutta. A list of candidates eligible to appear for the entrance exam will be published. After the exam, a series of merit lists with the names of the shortlisted candidates will be released on the college website.

VJRC, Kolkata Application Process 2022
For UG courses, candidates need to download the application form available online and then submit it to the campus office along with the application fees and all other required documents. Candidates applying for M.Sc. course can fill their application forms online.
- Candidates applying to the UG courses can download the application form from the college’s website or obtain it from the campus office.
- The filled-in application form along with application fees of Rs. 150/- (for each subject) and the required documents need to be submitted at the campus office.
- They need to take a print out of their application form and appear for the entrance exam that will be conducted on-campus.

General Instructions regarding VJRC, Kolkata Admission Process
- Candidates who studied under west Bengal council of H.S. Education / C.B.S.E / I.S.C and other recognized boards approved by the University of Calcutta are eligible to apply online on the college website.
- Admission fees of Rs.23000/- is to be paid by applicants at the time of admission by cash only at Canara Bank (Located within College Campus)
- Admission to B.Com. (Hons.), B.Com. (Gen.) and B.A. (Gen.) Evening Section is done in Institute’s evening office from 11 A.M. to 3 P.M.
- All other admissions are done in Institute’s evening office from 11 A.M. to 3 P.M.
- Admission fees is non-refundable.
Reservation Criteria 2022
- Only those students who studied under west Bengal council of H.S. Education / C.B.S.E / I.S.C and other recognized boards which are approved by the University of Calcutta are eligible to apply.
- If adequate number of ST candidates are not available, remaining seats will be made available to SC candidates first.
- If adequate number of SC candidates are not available, remaining seats will be made available to ST candidates first.
- If adequate number of SC and ST candidates are not available, even after that, the seats may be made available to General Category Candidates.
- For M.Sc. course, 22 seats are reserved for students of the University of Calcutta, while the remaining 40% seats, i.e. 15 seats are open for the candidates.
- For UG courses, subject wise reservation exists for candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PH categories.
Scholarships
- A Fund of Kanyasree Prokolpo (Govt.) exists for female students.
- Separate funds exist for candidates belonging the SC/ST categories.
- There is a Students' Aid fund which extends the financial help to the students who are under financial constraint
