Sir Jamshedji Jeejeebhoy School of Art, also known as, Sir J.J. School of Art is one of the pioneering institutes of fine art education in India since its establishment in 1878. The college provides 6 courses under the BFA program, 9 courses under the MFA program, 3 diploma courses, 1 certificate course and a few Hobby courses. Admissions to the undergraduate course is on the basis of a common entrance test and its subsequent counseling process. JJ School of Arts BFA admission is made on the basis of the Maharashtra Applied Arts & Crafts-Common Entrance Test (MH-AAC-CET), while admissions to the rest of the programs are made mostly on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination, and subsequently on the basis of interviews.
Counseling will be conducted according to the merit achieved in the examination and admission will be based on the counseling sessions.
The application forms of the respective courses can be either downloaded or taken from the office of the College. They must be then filled and submitted to the College Office. Based on the form, candidates will be called for interviews.
The Interview will carry 100 marks, out of which 50 marks will be 50% marks of the grand total of the marks obtained at degree examination of B.F.A. (in respective branch), and the remaining 50 marks will be allotted to the candidate's performance in the interview. It is mandatory for the applying candidate to produce his / her B.F.A. Class/ Sessional/ Term-work entire portfolio at the time of the interview. The selected list of students will be displayed on the college website.

The college awards merit-based scholarships and freeships to the talented students. Scholarships are awarded to 6% of students and freeships to 10% of students in each class. The rate of scholarship is INR 25 per month for first-year BFA students and INR 35 for all other classes. INR 75 is also awarded as a stipend for Diploma in Arts Education Class students. There are several other merit scholarships, endowment scholarships prizes, and freeships which are regularly awarded to students as per regulations. Ques. What is the application fee for the BFA entrance exam?
Ans. For Candidates of Backward Class Categories and Persons with Disability Candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only, INR 1200 is required to be paid while for all General Category Candidates, INR 1700 is the application fee.
Ques. What are the criteria for an international student?
Ans. International students are also required to apply for the MH-AAC-CET with their respective qualifications. For the other programs, they will require the equivalent qualification as required.
Ques. When will the entrance exam for BFA be conducted? Is there any age criteria?
Ans. The exam was supposed to be conducted on the 10th and 11th of May. However, due to the nationwide lockdown, the examination has been postponed. The last date to apply had been extended to 5th May. No, there is no age criteria for this exam.
