University College, Thiruvananthapuram Admission 2023: UG & PG Admissions

University College, Trivandrum offers BA and B.Sc at the UG level in various specializations. The minimum eligibility criteria for taking admission is 10+2 from a recognized board. Selection is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination.

The college offers MA and M.Sc at the PG level in multiple specializations. For MA, 45% marks in the final year of BA is required to be eligible for admission. For M.Sc, 55% marks in the final year of B.Sc is required to be eligible. Selection in MA and M.Sc is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination.

Key Points:

• Candidates passing their BA Part I or Part II examinations in Language groups with 50% marks are also eligible to take admission in MA program.
• Candidates applying for M.Sc., belonging to OBC/SC/ ST category gets a relaxation of 2%, 20% and 20% marks respectively in the aggregate score.
• Candidates seeking admission to MA, belonging to OBC/SC/ ST category gets a relaxation of 2%, 10% and 10% marks respectively in the aggregate score.
• For M.S/M.Sc. courses, the seat reservation percentages for SC/ ST category are 15%, and 5% respectively.
• 5% of the seats for MA/M.Sc. course are reserved for the applicants belonging to Socially & Educationally Backward community provided their aggregate family income doesn’t exceed INR 40,000 PA.

The college offers Ph.D. and M.Phil at the doctoral level in multiple specializations. The minimum eligibility criteria for taking admission in the doctoral courses is a Master’s degree with minimum 55% marks. Candidates who have done M.Phil with at least 55% marks are eligible for Ph.D. admission.

Selection in Ph.D. is based on a General Aptitude Test/ Ph.D. Entrance Test conducted by University of Kerala. Selection in M.Phil is done on the basis of performance in an aptitude test including a synopsis of the proposed research dissertation conducted by the doctoral committee.

Exemption conditions:

• Those who have qualified GC-NET/JRF, UGC-CSIRNET/JRF, SLET, GATE and research fellowships of central and state Government are exempted from the entrance test.
• Candidates who have qualified DBT-JRF and have DST-INSPIRE fellowship are also exempted from the entrance test.
• College teachers with more than 7 years of experience and candidates with DM/M.Ch degree is exempted from the test.
• Scientists/Ayurveda doctors working in government-owned Pharmaceuticals/Hospitals/Research Centres with 7 years of experience and 2 published research papers are exempted from the test.
• Candidates who are selected to the Quality Improvement Program introduced by AICTE are also exempted.
