M.G.R College of Arts and Science was established in 1988 with a vision of emerging as a centre of excellence in the field of higher education and providing core competence in all the activities. It is recognized as B+ grade by NAAC under the section 29(f) and 12B of UGC Act. It won 29 gold medals in the field of Arts & Science. M.G.R College offers 12 Undergraduate, 9 Postgraduate and 4 Doctoral programmes.

M.G.R College provides a lot of facilities which makes students' life more pleasurable. Some of them being
- Library: M.G.R College has a well-organized and developed library. 32506 volumes of books are contained in the library. Apart from this, the library subscribes to 17 newspapers, 50 National and International Journals and 250 e-journals along with 350 other journals.
- Sports: M.G.R College playground covers an area of 5 Acres which is used for multipurpose. It contains different areas for different games such as Hockey, Football, Kabaddi, Cricket, Kho-Kho etc. The indoor games like Table-Tennis, Carom, and Chess are available in the auditorium. It also provides a 1200m track for racing.
- Hostel: Separate hostels facility is provided to the students by the college campus. It has one girls’ hostel and two boys’ hostels with the capacity of 500 students inside the campus. All the modern facilities like well- furnished rooms, kitchen, indoor and outdoor games, library, computer system available there.
- Cafeteria: There are two dining halls - one for the staff members and other for the students with a dining capacity of 250 and 480 respectively. The dining halls are well furnished and maintained. The Cafeteria has a modernized and hygienic kitchen. The canteen stacks all sorts of bakery items, cold drinks, ice creams, fruit juices & coffee/tea vending machine.
- Xerox: The college has a very good functioning Xerox Shop. The institute bears the Xerox facility for the students.

No, I didn't see any improvement, just I go and enjoy myself with friends but now the college is improving, but there are staff also teach properly, so many cultures and all having, one of the biggest functions is sports day is the best culture in our college so many games, dance etc we enjoy that day
