Sri Ramachandra Medical College, Chennai Admission 2023 (Open): Dates, Eligibility, Selection Criteria, Application Process

Sri Ramachandra Medical College offers MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) with intake capacity of 250 candidates. It is a four and half years’ course and one year of Internship.

To be eligible for MBBS Course candidates should have completed High Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination with 50% marks (General) or 40% marks (SC/ST/OBC) taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology (or Botany and Zoology) and a pass in English subject. Candidates should secure at least 50% marks (General) or 40% (SC/ST/OBC) in Medical Entrance Examination, NEET-UG conducted by CBSE.

Admission to MBBS course is through counselling by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) based on NEET-UG conducted by CBSE

Key Points:

• Students from the US should have a high school diploma awarded by an accredited school (12 years schooling) with the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology in addition to English.
• Applicants from Cambridge University must have Three Passes in GCE 'Advanced' level ('A' levels) in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and Pass in AS Level in English Course 8693 in Class 12 in examinations.
• Only students from high schools accredited by the respective State or the country will be eligible for admission and a certificate to this effect from the competent authority must be produced.

Sri Ramachandra Medical College offers MD (Post Graduate Degree in Basic Medical Sciences) courses in 9 specializations, MD/MS (Post Graduate Degree in Clinical Courses) in 14 specializations and M.Sc (Masters in Basic Medical Science Courses) in 5 specializations with capacity to intake a total of 166 candidates for MD/MS Programs and a total of 21 candidates for M.Sc Programs. All the PG courses offered by the institute are of 3 years duration except M.Sc in Medical Radiology and Imaging Technique, which is a 5 years integrated course.

To be eligible for MD/MS Program, candidates should have obtained MBBS Degree. For M.Sc in Medical Anatomy, candidates should have MBBS/ BDS/B.P.T./ B.Sc. (Allied Health Sciences/ Emergency Trauma Care Technology/ Botany/Zoology/Chemistry/Life Sciences / Bioscience/ Medical Laboratory Technology / Bachelor of Unani Medical Sciences (BUMS) / Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medical Sciences (BAMS) / Bachelor of Homeopathy Medical Sciences (BHMS) / Bachelor of Siddha Medical Sciences (BSMS).

For M.Sc in Medical Physiology, candidates should have MBBS/ BDS/B.P.T./ B.Sc. Allied Health Sciences/Emergency and Trauma Care Technology/ Zoology/ Nutrition/ and other Paramedical Courses /BSMS/ BUMS/ BAMS/ BHMS. For M.Sc in Medical Biochemistry candidates should have MBBS/ BDS /B.P.T / B.Sc. Allied Health Sciences/ Emergency and Trauma Care Technology/ Biochemistry/Chemistry/ Zoology/ Botany/ Nutrition/ Medical Laboratory Technology/ BSMS/ BUMS/ BAMS/ BHMS.

For M.Sc in Medical Microbiology & Applied Molecular Biology, candidates should have MBBS/ BDS/ B.Sc. Allied Health Sciences/ Emergency and Trauma Care Technology/ Microbiology/ Zoology/ Home Science/ Medical Laboratory Technology/ / BSMS/ BUMS/ BAMS/ BHMS. For M.Sc in Clinical Embryology, candidates should have MBBS Degree and have completed Internship (CRRI) and have registered his/ her name with anyone of the State Medical Councils/possess higher qualifications i.e. DGO/ MD (Obstetrics & Gynaecology)/ MS (Obstetrics & Gynaecology). For M.Sc in Medical Radiology & Imaging Technology candidates should have passed in Higher Secondary or equivalent qualification with English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology/Mathematics to be eligible.

Admission to MD/MS Courses will be through counselling conducted by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) based on NEET-PG examination conducted by National Board of Examination (NBE).

Admission to M.Sc in Medical Radiology & Imaging Technology will be based on the merit of All India Entrance Examination conducted by Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute.

For Higher Speciality Courses, Sri Ramachandra Medical College offers DM/MCh Programs in 15 specializations with total intake capacity of 32 students. The duration for all Speciality Courses is 3 years except MCh in Neurosurgery which is a 6 years integrated course.

For DM Cardiology, candidates should have M.D. (General Medicine) / M.D. Paediatrics / M.D. Respiratory Medicine or its equivalent recognised degree, to be eligible. For DM Nephrology and DM Neurology candidates should have M.D General Medicine/ M.D. Paediatrics or its equivalent recognised degree.

For DM Medical Gastroenterology candidates should have M.D. General Medicine or its equivalent recognised degree. For DM Critical Care Medicine candidates should have M.D. (Anaesthesiology/ Medicine/ Pulmonology) or its equivalent recognised degree. For DM in Neonatology, candidates should have M.D. (Paediatrics) or its equivalent recognised degree. For DM Neuro-radiology candidates should have M.D. (Radio-Diagnosis) or its equivalent recognised degree.

For MCh in Neuro Surgery (3 years course)/Urology/Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery/Surgical Gastroenterology/Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery/Paediatric Surgery/Vascular Surgery candidates should have M.S. (General Surgery) or its equivalent recognised degree. For MCh in Neuro-surgery (6 years course) candidates should have MBBS Degree to be eligible. For MCh in Reproductive Medicine & Surgery candidates should have M.D. / M.S. (Obstetrics & Gynaecology) or its equivalent recognised degree.
