Goa University Admission 2023: PG & Ph.D. Admission, Entrance Exam, Courses, Notification

Goa University offers BE and B.Arch courses in various disciplines in full-time mode. 10+2 with PCM is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission. BE admission is offered on the basis of candidates’ performance in Goa CET (GCET) conducted by DTE Goa while the admission to B.Arch program is granted on the basis of a valid score in NATA.

How to Apply for GCET:  Download the application form from the official portal of GCET. Print and submit the application form for GCET at notified locations as per center opted, on specified dates along with application fee of INR 1800 in the form of demand draft drawn in favour of “Director of Technical Education” payable at Panaji, Goa in any Scheduled Bank.

At the undergraduate level, the university also offers BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, BCA, BSW, LL.B, B.Li.Sc, B.Ed and B.P.Ed courses in various disciplines. Admission is granted on the basis of marks in 10+2 and marks in Graduation for B.Ed, B.P.Ed and LL.B programs. Goa University also offers Integrated (BBA+MBA), B.Sc+ B.Ed and BA+ B.Ed at the UG level.

Note:  Application form for BA (Hons.) French can be filled online on payment of INR 500 as an application fee by challan (SBI/HDFC) or by Credit/ Debit Card or through Net-Banking.

Goa University offers MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, B.Pharm and B.Sc (Nursing) courses at UG level. Admission to all the courses is based on a valid score in NEET UG followed by university-based counselling except for B.Pharm course for which the candidates have to appear in Goa CET conducted by DTE.

Goa University offers various full-time MA, M.Sc, M.Li.Sc, MSW, LL.M and M.Com courses at postgraduate level. Along with PG courses, the university also offers PG Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses. Graduation in the relevant discipline is the minimum eligibility criteria for these courses. Admission to all the PG courses is based on the Ranking Test conducted by the university. Admission to PG Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses is based on the marks in last qualifying examination.

Key Points:

• 2 % and 12% seats are reserved for SC and ST candidates respectively.
• 27% and 5% seats are reserved for OBC and PH candidates.
• 10% seats are reserved for the candidates belonging to other universities except for MBA and MCA courses.
• 15% seats of over and above the sanctioned intake are reserved for overseas candidates. One seat is also reserved for Kashmiri Migrants.
• Application form for above PG courses can be filled online on payment of INR 400 as application fee.

Goa University Ranking Test (GU-ART) Details:

Ranking Test will be a paper of 100 marks with 50 MCQs for the duration of one and half hour. Each correct answer will fetch two marks and a wrong response will be responsible for the deduction of 0.25 marks.

 Note: Section II will be evaluated only if a candidate qualifies Section I. Similarly, Section III will be evaluated only if a candidate qualifies Section II.

 At postgraduate level, Goa University also offers M.Tech and MBA courses in various specializations for the duration of two years. BE/ B.Tech in the related discipline is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission while for any graduate degree is sufficient for MBA program.

M.Tech admission is subject to GATE score or university-based departmental entrance test if seats remain vacant. For MBA, candidates have to present their latest CMAT scorecard.

Under Medicine department, Goa University offers MD, MS, MDS, M.Sc (Nursing) and M.Pharm courses in various disciplines at PG level. MD and MS admission is offered on the basis of marks in NEET PG conducted at National Level while MDS admission is subject to candidates’ performance in NEET MDS. For M.Ch program, candidates have to qualify NEET SS.

Although GPAT qualified candidates can apply for M.Pharm, the university also conducts separate entrance test. Merit in B.Sc (Nursing) is the desired admission criteria for admission to M.Sc (Nursing) program.

Goa University offers M.Phil and Ph.D. courses in various disciplines at the Research level. The application process will begin in the month of December and interested candidates can apply both online and offline. Master’s degree in the related discipline is the minimum eligibility for admission.

Goa University conducts its own Entrance Test followed by an interview to offer admission in M.Phil and Ph.D. courses. Applicants who have qualified in the examinations like CSIR- NET/ UGC-NET/ JRF/lectureship/ SET/SLET/ GATE/ ICAR/ ICMR/ DBT/ DST-Inspire are exempted from the university-based entrance test.

Application fee for Ph.D.:  Candidates have to pay INR 500 (INR 250 for reserved categories). The Application fee for the candidates who are exempted from the entrance examination is INR 2000.

Documents required at the time of Admission:

• Two recent passport size photographs
• Marks sheets of previous qualifying examination
• Birth Certificate from Competent Authority.
• Caste and Bonafide certificate (if applicable)
• Leaving/Transfer certificate from school or college last attended
• Certificate of Income in original issued by Panchayat
• Non-Migrant Caste Certificate
• Physically Handicapped Certificate (if applicable)
• OCI /PIO Card /document issued by the Competent Authority for NRI candidates.
• A certified copy of the passport or other equivalent document as proof of being an Indian Citizen
