There are several eligibility and qualifications required in order to become a Police Officer in India. However, candidates must be clear that the criterias are different across different positions and designations.

Candidates aspiring to become SP / ASP or DSP, should first clear the IPS Exams.
For posts held by the State Government, candidates must clear the SSC entrance exam.
