Ques. Is journalism a good option from the Amity University, Noida?

● Top Answer By Taiti Ghosh on 23 Feb 21

Ans. Hearing from students studying in Amity University, Noida, I have come across many dissatisfied students who claimed to receive a poor quality of media education. There are certain reasons that make Amity University not a good option for journalism. These may include a poor faculty to bad placements.  The faculty of Journalism at Amity University is not up to the mark. The teachers are not very much experienced, though there may be some exceptions. But overall the faculty is weaker than other colleges like MICA (Ahmedabad), Christ Church (Bangalore) and Symbiosis (Pune). Categories Journalism at Amity University, Noida Course Fee 8.07 lakh Course Duration 3 years Placement Percentage 60-70% Highest CTC 11 LPA Average CTC 3-4 LPA Recruiting Companies News 18, Amazon, etc. Their course curriculum is outdated and is mostly theory based. Whereas Journalism is considered to be a more practical subject, students at Amity focus more on Theory-based education than practicals. Even if the student pursues advertising or television production, they are made to focus on theories rather than practicals. If you really want to study journalism at a professional level, you should consider colleges like MICA (Ahmedabad), Christ Church (Bangalore) and Symbiosis (Pune), which are proven to be better institutes than Amity University, Noida.Read more

Ques. How good is Amity University Kolkata for the BJMC course? How are the placements?

● Top Answer By Meghna Bhaduri on 18 Jan 21

Ans. Amity University Kolkata offers a program in Journalism and Mass Communication, BJMC, across 3 years. The popularity of this program has been growing more and more, over the years. It is a great program with core and foundation level subjects. Although comparatively, Amity Noida offers a better environment and campus for the program. The table below will give you a brief overview of the BJMC Journalism and Mass Communication program at Amity University Kolkata.  Duration 3 years Course Eligibility A minimum score of 50% in class 12 with Written test and Personal Interview Placement Rate 60% Top Recruiters American Express, IBM, and HP Highest CTC 3 LPA Intake 120 Total fees INR 4.45 Lakh Attendance:  Students are required to have a minimum of 75% attendance in order to be eligible to appear for final examinations.  The class timings are slightly odd and therefore you will have to figure out a balance between them. Due to the odd timings, many students start losing interest in learning and start attending classes just for the sake of attendance. Infrastructure:  It has an inbuilt soundproof studio for recording TV & Radio.  It also offers all the pieces of equipment needed for the course work. Make sure you make use of the provided resource. Placements: The institute promises 100% placements. However, the salary packages start from as low as INR 15,000. One of my classmates was placed in Delhi with a salary package of INR 25,000 but on a contract basis.  Most students are offered the role of associates or junior managers after completing their graduation.  You should make good use of the institute’s resources and infrastructure. Doing so will surely help you in getting good experiences and build your portfolio. Hence, Amity University Kolkata offers a good degree program in BJMC with decent placement statistics.Read more

Ques. Which one will be better for Mass Communication: Amity University (Noida) or Manipal University (Jaipur)?

● Top Answer By Mukul Sachdeva on 13 Apr 21

Ans. Amity University, Noida, and Manipal University, Jaipur are not good options for Mass Communication. I know a few people from both the institutes and I have not heard good reviews about the mass communication program at the institutes.  For 2 years, Amity University, Noida will charge almost 6 lakhs for the course. However, the quality of education and the placement opportunities is not worth the course fee that they charge. Most of the students end up getting sales jobs with a salary package of around INR 30,000 per month. The same can be seen at Manipal University Jaipur.  The problem with the Mass Communication program offered by these institutes is that the course structure is quite outdated. It does not meet the needs of the current industry. So, if you want a successful career in Mass Communication it will be better if you don’t choose any of these two options.Read more

● Top Answer By Aritra Chowdhury on 26 Nov 21

Ans. B.A Hons. in Journalism from Lady Shri Ram College is definitely a better option than DCAC. It is way better in terms of campus, ranking, reputation, student crowd, etc. The cutoff required for the institute is also higher. So, you will be among competitive peers. If you don’t get LSR, try to get into other south-campus colleges. DCAC is not included in any of the DU campuses, which is a huge disadvantage. Read more
