Yes students do fail in final exams and for that they have to pay 6k rs and take that subject again because vit does not give an option of re attempt. A typical academic semester for a single subject is as following - 2 CAT exams ( continuous assessment test) one of them is open book and is out of 30 marks with a weightage of 15 each Quizzes and digital assignments- one should try getting most in these as they have a weightage of total 30 marks and are comparatively very easy to score. FAT (Final assessment test) - This is the final exam which has a weightage of 40 marks and consists of 7 modules in every subject. If a student fails to get 40 marks in fat they will be given a backlog in that particular subject. Teaching methodology there is very simple. We have got 7 modules for every subject in PDF format and are taught by the faculties in depth, given practice questions in class and can mug up everything from those 7 modules. Faculty I admired the most was Dr. Vidhyapathi. He was my Microcontrollers professor and had immense practical and theoretical knowledge about the subject. He used to explain everything with examples and used to make sure each and every student in his class understood the concept thoroughly. Faculty I didn't admire- Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh for robotics. He didn't attend classes and used to cancel class at the end moment which was a very rare thing to happen in vit. There is a75% attendance criteria for students with less than 9cgpa . For students with 9 cgpa and above it was not compulsory to attend classes and there was no attendance criteria for them.

Campus Life

There are no sports facilities on campus, although we do have a badminton court which we use during our annual fest, for indoor games, we have a pool table, table tennis table, carrom and chess with all the pieces and equipments for the same. The auditorium and library are well maintained and AC Conditioned with a huge amount of books to choose from. We also have an E-library where the books are accessible in digital format. Campus is not big, being at church gate, so personal bikes are not allowed inside of campus and also relatives cannot visit the campus. there are a few food joints nearby campus and railway station is very very close to the college. As said, the campus is not a very big place, its is just the building with walls on 4 sides. After college, students generally go into the library or in the cafeteria or the games area. Major spots are, Marine Lines, Bk cafe, Gateway of India, Kala Ghoda, etc and it is very safe to roam outside during night time. There are numerous events conducted by the events committee, including the annual fest, house cup, simerations, etc and the vibe is very energetic during these events, after all this is the time off we get from our hectic schedule. As the college is student driven, we have all sorts of committees from alum committee to placement committee. There are a total of 12 committees. For CV Pointers, i believe the most important committees are the placement committee, finance forum, Alum committee

Ques. What should I choose between Sydenham PGDBM and K J Somaiya MMS?

● Top Answer By Samiksha Panday on 08 Sept 21

Ans. Having known some students of both these colleges, I can say that both the colleges are really good in terms of infrastructure, culture, and faculties. There are of course some differences too and for that let me share with you a few details. K J Somaiya has better infrastructure and the campus is located at the heart of the city. SIMSREE doesn't have such a big infrastructure. SIMSREE has a better ROI than K J Somaiya.  Placement usually depends on your profile and how you perform in your management education & certainly performance in interviews. Professors, peers both are good in both colleges.  At SIMSREE, the finance course is much better as there are several guest lecturers visiting from JBIMS. Both SIMSREE and K J Somaiya’s program in MMS is Mumbai University affiliated. Its degree is acceptable for several government jobs as well. Categories MMS at SIMSREE MMS at K J Somaiya Course Fee 1.36 lakh 3.24 lakh Highest CTC 20 LPA - Average CTC 12 LPA 8-9 LPA Recruiting Companies American Express, Barclays, ITC, KPMG, etc. Amazon, HUL, Deutsche Bank, Wipro, etc. It must be noted that PGDBM is not offered at SIMSREE rather the institute also offers MMS in affiliation with Mumbai University. Also, while choosing between MMS at Sydenham and K J Somaiya, it is suggested that you talk to alumni of both colleges, which would definitely give you a clear idea. Read more

● Top Answer By Aditi Sengupta on 31 Mar 23

Ans. IIT Madras is a premiere Engineering college and all the courses are of premium quality and taught by world-class faculty. Talking specifically about DoMS, it has some of the oldest and most highly experienced faculty who are very cooperative and guide the students throughout their journey. IIT Madras faculty are experts in their area of specialization mainly because my cousin was an M S - Mech student, and had to audit classes, with the Consent Of Teachers in the Management Studies department. She was fortunate enough to avail the opportunity to teach in DoMS. She was impressed by the faculty of the department and shared her wonderful experience. Not only in academics but the department is also known for its valuable research work done by MS students. Many students even opt for Ph.D. after completing their MS. IIT Madras’ Central Library is no joke given the huge variety of books and unique research materials. It runs 24/7 and one can even photocopy necessary material for research purposes. Without further hesitation, go for MS at DoMS IIT Madras and you will realize how wonderful a decision it was.Read more

Ques. Which is a better option in Jain University in Bangalore: MBA or MMS?

● Top Answer By Souvick Jain on 06 Apr 23

Ans. Jain University in Bangalore offers both MBA (Master of Business Administration) and MMS (Master of Management Studies) programs. Both of these programs have their own unique features and benefits, and the choice between the two ultimately depends on your individual goals and preferences. Here are some key differences between the two programs to help you make an informed decision: MBA Program: MBA is a postgraduate degree program that typically focuses on developing general management skills, with a broad curriculum that covers a wide range of business functions such as finance, marketing, operations, and human resources. MBA programs are designed for students who have some work experience and are looking to advance their careers or transition into management roles. MBA programs often offer more flexibility in terms of course offerings, allowing students to tailor their studies to their specific interests and career goals. Jain University's MBA program is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and offers a range of specializations such as Finance, Marketing, HRM, Operations, Entrepreneurship, and Business Analytics. MMS Program: MMS is also a postgraduate degree program, but it is more specialized and focuses specifically on management studies, with a curriculum that is typically more focused on business strategy, organizational behavior, and leadership. MMS programs are designed for students who want to gain a deeper understanding of management principles and practices and are looking to transition into management roles. MMS programs often have a more structured curriculum and may not offer as much flexibility in terms of course offerings. Jain University's MMS program is affiliated with Bangalore University and offers specializations in Marketing, Finance, and Human Resource Management. When considering which program to choose, you should take into account your personal interests, career goals, and the type of knowledge and skills you want to gain. Some factors to consider include: Specialization: If you have a specific area of interest within management, you may want to consider an MBA program that offers a specialization in that area. Alternatively, if you want a more general overview of management principles, an MMS program may be more suitable. Work Experience: MBA programs typically require some work experience, whereas MMS programs may be more suitable for students who are just starting their careers. Course Structure: MBA programs tend to offer more flexibility and course options, while MMS programs may have a more structured curriculum. Both MBA and MMS programs at Jain University are well-regarded and offer excellent opportunities for professional and personal growth. It's important to consider your own goals and preferences when deciding which program is right for you.Read more
