CUET Exam Pattern 2023: Sectional Details
Section IA, Section B - Both these sections check the language efficiency. Candidates can choose a maximum of any 3 languages from Section IA and Section IB took together. However, the third language chosen needs to be in lieu of the 6th domain-specific Subject chosen by the candidate.
There are 13 different languages under Section IA. Any of these languages may be chosen. Language to be tested through Reading Comprehension (based on different types of passages–Factual, Literary and Narrative, Literary Aptitude, and Vocabulary. Whereas, there are 20 languages under Section IB. Any other language apart from those offered in Section I A may be chosen.
Section II- There are 27 Domains specific subjects being offered under this Section. A candidate may choose a maximum of 6 Domains as desired by the applicable University/University.
Section III- This section comprises General Test for any such undergraduate program being offered by Universities where a General Test is being used for admission. The topics covered in these sections are General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning (Simple application of basic mathematical concepts arithmetic/algebra geometry/mensuration taught till Grade 8), Logical and Analytical Reasoning.

- Type of Questions- In Sections IA and IB of Language-based Sections, the skills of Language opted for by the candidates is going to be tested on the basis of Factual, Literary, and Narrative type Reading Comprehension Passages.
- Maximum Subjects- Candidates need to opt for a maximum of 3 Languages combined from Section IA and Section IB. However, the third language opted for needs to be in accordance with a Domain-specific subject. From Section II. candidates is going to be required to opt for a maximum of 6 subjects out of a total of 27 subject options provided. These is going to be based on the requirement as per the applicable university.
- Difficulty Level- The difficulty level of sections in CUET 2023 would be based on the Class 12th syllabus.
- Maximum Number of Attempts- If the respective University of the candidate provides that Class 12th students of the previous year are permitted to appear in CUET 2023, then such candidates can also opt to appear in the exam.
