NEST 2020 Application Form

NEST 2020 Application Form is available in online mode only. Candidates can complete the registration process till June 07, 2020 (Extended). Candidates should have either passed class 12th in 2019 or 2020 or should be appearing for class 12th board exams in 2020.

NEST, also called National Entrance Screening Test, is conducted by NISER (National Institute of Science Education and Research) and Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (CBS) of the University of Mumbai for candidates who seek admission to the institute for the purpose of getting trained to conduct various scientific researches.

NEST Application Form is primarily divided into 3 steps – filling the application form, uploading images and payment of application fee. The application fee for General/OBC category is INR 700/- and SC/ST category is 350/-.


NEST 2020 Registration

Candidates who wish to appear for NEST 2020 exam on June 16, 2020 have to first register on the official website. Candidates have to provide a valid email id and other details to register online for NEST. Steps to register online are mentioned below for reference:

  • Go to www.nestexam.in and click on “apply online”.
  • Provide your basic information such as full name, valid email id and preferred password.
  • Enter the secret code and click on “register”.

Once the email id and password are confirmed, log in with the same email id and password to begin NEST Application Process.

Steps to fill NEST 2020 Application Form

Candidates can log in with their confirmed email id and password to fill the rest of application form. Given below are the steps to fill the NEST 2020 Application Form:

Step 1: Fill/Edit Form

Candidates need to fill certain details such as:

  • Personal Information: Name, category, gender, date of birth, father’s name, mother’s name, etc.
  • Contact details: address, mobile number, etc.
  • Educational Information: Class 10th and Class 12th academic records

Step 2: Uploading required documents

The next step in NEST 2020 Application Form is uploading scanned copy of passport size photograph and signatures. The dimensions for both the documents is as follows:

  • Passport- sized photographs: Photograph must be uploaded in JPG file format with 150 px width and 180 px of height. The file size must be less than 100 kb.
  • Signatures: Signatures must be uploaded in JPG file format as well with 250 px width and 50 px height. The file size must be less than 100 kb.

Step 3: Payment of Application Fee

After uploading the required documents, candidates will have to pay the application fee. NEST 2020 Application fee for General and OBC candidates is INR 700 (Male), whereas for candidates of SC/ST/PwD category and female candidates of General and OBC Category is INR 350.

NEST 2020 Application Fee can be paid via two methods, Tech Process and SBI ePay. Candidates can use Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card to pay the application fee online. It is important to note that apart from the application fee, charges will be aplicable accordingly.

Following are the details for both the options provided for application fee payment:

  • Tech Process: candidates can use the options such as Net banking, Credit Card/Debit Card. All the bannks, excpet SBI Bank have been listed in Tech Process Payment Services. INR 17 will be charged along with the application fee, if the candidate opts for Net banking option. However, 0.75% and 1% of the payable amount will be charged as tax if candidate opts for payment through decit cards and credit cards respectively.

  • SBI ePay: Net banking charges as mentioned in the image below will be applicable if the candidate opts for SBI ePay service. 0.7 % and 0.9% of the payable amount will be charged as tax if candidate opts for payment through decit cards and credit cards respectively. Extra charges of INR 10 will be levied upon the candidate, if the payment is made through IMPS Mobile Payment.

Step 4: Verification and Submission of NEST 2020 Application Form

When candidate successfully completes all the steps mentioned above, they will get a preview of the NEST 2020 Application Form along with all the important information. If you wish to make any changes in the application form, log out and re-login.

Make sure all the details are correctly filled and the documents are clearly visible. Click on “submit” and take a print out of the application form for further reference.

Retrieving NEST 2020 Password

In case, candidate forget their password for future login sessions, they have the facility to retrieve the password. To retrieve password candidate will have to click on “forgot password” and continue with the steps given below:

  • Enter the registered and confirmed email id.
  • In secret code box, enter the secret code given above the tab.
  • Click on “send password to my email id”. Candidates can check their registered email id.

It is important to note that the password will not be sent more than twice, so the candidate must remember the password or secure the email in which password was disclosed.

According to the NEST cutoff trends, the required cutoff remains around 45% of the total marks.
