NEST 2023 Counselling: Check Schedule, Seat Matrix, Counselling Fee and Procedure

NEST 2023 counselling schedule will be announced after the declaration of the results. Candidates who have qualified will receive an expression of interest(EOI) for joining NISER. Last date to fill and submit EOI letter is will be conveyed to the candidates. Candidates are required to appear at counselling venue on scheduled date and time.

  • The first phase of the counselling will be a joint counselling for NISER Bhubaneshwar and UM-DAE CBS, Mumbai.
  • Candidates are required to bring the necessary documents in original as well as photocopy.
  • Failing to meet any of the criteria may result in cancellation of their admission.
  • Admission will be made on the basis of modified merit list.
  • Candidates can withdraw their admission by way of mail or coming in person. Depending on the seats left vacant at institutes, a second counselling will take place which will not be a joint counselling.

The number of students who would be invited to each round of NEST 2023 Counselling may be restricted by the institutes. No candidate will be entitled to automatic call up for any round of counselling just by satisfying SMAS and MAS criteria. In extenuating circumstances, the right to relax any of the defined cut-offs is reserved by NEST.

Instructions for NEST 2023 Counselling Round I

  • On the date of counselling, candidates must be present at the counselling venue at scheduled time. A failure to do so will amount to forfeiture of admission claim.
  • A combined modified merit list will be prepared on the basis of original merit list and the attendance at NISER and CBS.
  • The admissions will be granted strictly on the basis of the modified merit list.
  • Appearing in counselling doesn’t guarantee admission to any of the participating institutes. Admissions will be solely based on the modified merit list prepared on the counselling day while taking into account the reserved categories.
  • Candidates should carry required documents with them.

The participating institutes of NEST 2023 have some details which are different from each other. For keeping up with such details, the candidates need to stay updated with the website on concerned institute. Such details which are different to each institute are listed below:

Documents Required

Documents Required During NEST 2023 Counselling

The candidates are required to carry certain documents with them on the day of counselling. Such documents are listed below:

  • 10th class mark sheet (Original + 1 photocopy)
  • 12th class mark sheet (Original + 1 photocopy)
  • Birth Certificate or School Leaving Certificate as Date of Birth proof (Original + 1 photocopy)
  • Caste certificate, if applicable (Original + 1 photocopy)
  • Caste verification certificate in case where format of caste certificate only mentions the caste of the candidate and not the fact that said caste is included in respective category
  • Non-creamy layer OBC certificate, if applicable (Original + 1 photocopy)
  • Disability certificate, if applicable (Original + 1 photocopy)
  • Indian Citizenship proof, in case candidates was born outside India (Original + 1 photocopy)
  • 4 passport size color photographs
  • Demand Draft in favor of NISER, payable at Bhubaneswar, or in favor of CBS, payable at Mumbai, wherever candidates are appearing for counselling

If the candidates have submitted their original certificates for admission to another institute, then they need to produce an undertaking stating the same from the said institute. The candidates are required to deposit their original documents. Admission committee will take at least Class 12th mark sheet during counselling and will keep it for one semester.

The students, who have submitted their original documents to other institutes, must produce an official undertaking stating they will return the testimonials on demand by candidate. In such a case, candidates must submit the original documents to the institute admission committee on the day of registration. A failure to do so without a valid reason shall amount to cancellation of admission.

Withdrawal of Admission

Withdrawal of Admission from NEST 2023 Counselling

The candidates who wish to withdraw their admission should do so before the withdrawal deadline i.e. July mid. It can be done by coming in person. Alternatively, the candidate may also send a mail at nest@nestexam including the following details:

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Roll Number
  • Application Number
  • Counselling Venue Choice
  • Percentage of marks in 12th class

The intimation regarding return of original documents and refund of amount deposited will be made at the time of withdrawal.

Second Counselling

Each participating institute prepares their own waiting list after first round of counselling and withdrawal deadline. This waiting list will form the basis for filling the seats left vacant at a particular institute. Participating institutes will announce the names of waitlisted candidates on their respective websites. The institute, where seats are left vacant, will conduct second counselling. The dates for the same will be announced on the websites of respective institutes. This counselling will not be a joint counselling.

The result for NEST 2023 will be out on July 2023. Results will be announced online. Candidates can check their results on the official website by entering roll number and application number.

Rank Allotment System

  • For NEST 2023 Seat Allotment, a merit list will be prepared in descending order on the basis of total scores of the candidates who meet all the requirements.
  • In case of a tie in scores of two or more candidates, the tie breaker would be higher marks in general section.
  • If scores are still tied, then the tie breaker would be score in any of the subject section.
  • If tie still persists, the same rank will be provisionally allotted to all candidates at the time of declaration of results. During counselling/admission, the class 12th marks and date of birth will be compared in that order.

According to the NEST cutoff trends, the required cutoff remains around 45% of the total marks.
