NIFT 2022 Exam Pattern consists of CAT (Creative Aptitude Test ), GAT (General Ability Test), and GD/PI. Candidates appearing for B.Des and M.Des have to appear for CAT and GAT while those appearing for B.FTech and M.FTech will have to appear only for GAT. Moreover, B.Des and M.Des candidates will be further called the Situation Test. NIFT 2022 will be conducted on 6 February 2022.
- As per the latest official notification by NIFT, due to the increased covid case, NIFT 2022 will now be conducted online as a proctored examination. The detailed instructions for the same will be notified on January 23, 2022, on the official website.
- NIFT 2022 Admission will be made in B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, M.F.M, B.Des and M.Des based on candidates’ performance in the exam.
- Candidates must qualify each stage of the exam separately in order to get admission in the course of his/her choice.
- The question paper will be available in English language only. No marks will be deducted for wrong answers.

NIFT 2022 Exam Pattern in Detail
NIFT 2022 Entrance Exam will be held in 3 stages beginning with GAT followed by CAT. General Ability Test or GAT is a written test for all the 5 courses offered by NIFT. GAT is the first test for selection for B.Des and M.Des courses. After clearing GAT, B.Des and M.Des students are required to qualify CAT. Applicants who cleared both the written tests will be eligible for Situation Test followed by Group Discussion/ Personal Interview. GAT is the only selection test for B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech and MFM.
NIFT 2022 Examination Pattern is explained in detail below:
- GAT examination is conducted in the offline mode only.
- For B.Des and M.Des, GAT exam is of 2 hours. On the other hand, B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech, GAT exam is for 3 hours.
- The paper will be in English language only
- For B.Des, a total of 100 questions will be asked in GAT and for M.Des 120 questions will be asked.
- For B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech, 150 questions will be asked.
- GAT & CAT written exams will be conducted for M.Des and B.Des courses. Whereas, for B.F.Tech, MFM & M.F.Tech only GAT will be conducted.
- There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

NIFT Entrance Exam 2022 Important Instructions
Students are advised to go through the following instructions before appearing in the examination:
- Students should start solving previous year papers and mock tests.
- They should reach the examination hall before commencement of the exam.
- Candidates must carry the printout of NIFT Admit Card 2021 along with the printout of original identity card.
- Jewellery, watches, belts and other ornaments are also not allowed inside the examination hall.
- All the electronic devices such as Mobile Phones, Pagers, and Bluetooth etc. are not allowed inside the examination center.
- A valid photo ID proof includes College ID card, Passport, Driving License, Aadhar Card, Voter ID Card, PAN card etc.
- Without NIFT Admit Card, students cannot appear for the exam
