NIFT 2022 Preparation: Course Wise Weightage
In order to prepare for NIFT 2022, the first thing that candidates must familiarise themselves is the weightage and exam pattern for NIFT 2022. The written exam for NIFT 2022( B.Des and M.Des) candidates comprises of Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT) while BFTech, MFTech and MFM candidates only need to appear in GAT exam. NIFT 2022 Preparation for GAT
Candidates are advised to check all the resources and methods that are helpful in preparing of NIFT entrance in an organized way. Following is the detail of each section comprised of topics from where the questions are asked. GAT Section comprises of sections from Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Quantitative Ability, Analytical Ability, General Knowledge and Current Affairs.
- Nothing is better than practice so candidates have to practice as many questions as they can. Students must practice previous year's questions papers too.
- Candidates need to read different newspapers, magazines, and websites on a regular basis.
- Candidates can get ideas from posters, banners, and advertisements they see.
- Candidates must highlight the line by making it bold which shows the candidate's confidence.
- Candidates start detailing the things and observing more such as human figures and outfits and even their vicinity.
- Candidates need to practice different styles of lettering.
- Candidates are advised to make a light sketch firstly and then darken them which ultimately saves the candidate time.
- In the examination, the candidates need to think about the idea first and then draw it with the use of quality pencils with at least 24 shades. Therefore, plan time scheduled in such a way that the paper can complete on time.
- Candidates should start with simple designs and then practice complicated and difficult one.

NIFT 2022 Exam Pattern
NIFT 2022 entrance exam is divided into two tests i.e. online or written objective test which is also called General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability test (CAT).
Bachelor Of Design (B.Des.)
In this program, CAT test is having 50% weightage and GAT test is having 30% weightage. Whereas the situation test is having 20% weightage and is a practical exam. The test is comprised of 150 questions and is completed in 2 hours.

NIFT 2022 Preparation for CAT
Creative Ability Test is conducted in NIFT 2022 for UG as well as PG programs. This section tests the design ability, intuitive ability and observation skills of the candidates in concept development. Candidates must practice the innovative uses of color and illustration skills in this section. Some of the important preparation tips for this section are:
- Develop preparation strategy- The most important thing for candidates is to develop a planned approach. You must set goals and list topics that are to cover in order to prepare for the exam. Analyze your strengths and weakness and allot time to the topics in NIFT according to the topics that will require more time.
- Time Management- Time Management is an essential aspect of the exam as a lot of times candidates are unable to attempt the questions. Consistent preparation of the topics will also improve your speed and thus enable you to attempt the questions in the exam.
- Observation Skills- Observation Skills are very important for any design exam. Since the exam syllabus for the Creative Ability Test is not defined, candidates must observe their surroundings and practice sketching and drawing. Candidates should also analyze the other topics in NIFT 2022 Syllabus, this will help you gain a deeper understanding of the entrance exam.
- Revision- A lot of times candidates are unable to retain the topics that they have prepared for. This may happen due to an inconsistent routine. To avoid this, candidates must revise the topics within a scheduled time interval. This will help you to retain the topics that you have already prepared for.
