Identified in their logo as an independent university since 1999, Mainz University of Applied Sciences is a young German university formed by the dissolution of the 18th century academy - Fachhochschule Rheinland-Pfalz. On 1 September 1996, two former departments of that academy, called Mainz I and Mainz II merged to form the current university in Mainz, Germany which later became renowned as one of the top German universities

Campus
- Mianz has divided its locations into three, which are Campus, Holzstrasse, and Wallstrasse locations, respectively.
- The Campus location consists of the School of Business, School of Engineering, and Department of Geoinformatics and Surveying.
- It has central facilities like the Presidium and Central administration.
- The Holzstrasse location contains the Schools of Engineering and Design, which have the Departments of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Interior Architecture, and Communication Design.

- All locations are in close proximity to both Mainz Central Station and Frankfurt Airport.

Housing facilties/Residence
- Accommodation is not provided by the university but is rather managed by the Student Services (Studierendenwerk) in Mainz.
- Students can choose between Student Dormitories (All Students) and Buddy Program Mainz-Bingen (International Students Only).
- For a room in student dormitory, students are required to contact Student Services.
- The application form has a “dormitory selection” section, where the applicants can specify priorities between several buildings, complexes, and other accommodations.
- All rooms are not available in sufficient numbers; therefore, the order in which the applications are received determines the allocation of rooms.
- After being accepted, students will receive a binding rental agreement from Student Services via email. This must be signed and returned.
- In case student dormitories are not available, Student Services also assists students in finding private accommodations.
- For international students, there is a Buddy Program in place that brings together German and international students in one-to-one contact each semester.
- The Buddy Program is also managed by the Student Services and establishes intercultural interactions between German and international students and promotes cultural harmony.
