The Law of European Integration master’s program is a non-consecutive course that focuses more strongly on research. The program is intended to provide German and foreign students who already hold a law degree with advanced academic insight into the legal basis of European integration, its historical, economic and political context, its place in international law and how it interacts with national legal systems.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
- In order to be admitted to the program, applicants must have passed the first State Examination in law or have obtained a law degree from a European Union or EEA state after a standard period of study of at least four years.
- An applicant may also be admitted if they have obtained an equivalent law degree from a different faculty of law abroad after a standard period of study of at least four years, provided they submit reasoned expert opinions from two university lecturers entitled to teach independently at that faculty, which show that the applicant’s final grade is among the best 30% of the graduates of the same examination year and that they are completely suitable for studying in accordance with the study regulations. The examination board decides on the equivalence of such a law degree.
- Language skills that are necessary to successfully complete the period of study abroad are not an admission requirement.
