What is your philosophy of leadership?

I work empathetically as per the situation demands and create united teams”

I prefer taking the entire team along with those who are dedicated to the work and are hardworking. So that somewhere down the line, everybody works for the institution. Every leader should follow these things. It also keeps changing depending on what the situation is. I am extremely aristocratic as well as compassionate sometimes.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“To learn enthusiasm and positivity from students”

Initially, I just wanted to be a good teacher, but as time passed, this field evolved. What keeps me in this sector is staying connected to the young generation, which keeps me very active and very positive. I think as you become old, we tend to become more negative and doubtful, but you don't see that in youngsters. So, their positive energy always rubs on me.

How do you plan the marketing and administration of your school?

I refer more to the ‘word of mouth’ publicity and digital platforms”

My focus is more on word-of-mouth publicity. We are known for our work and performance. As a team, we strive for the best. And it’s all about teamwork. We do promote our events, so I wouldn't say that we're completely cut off from any media. All the events are promoted through print and electronic media and students are there to push it into social media.

What do you see as Sultan Ul Uloom College of Pharmacy’s greatest strengths?

“Ph.D. holder faculty members, strong management and diverse pedagogy”

The strength starts from the management, Sultan Ul Uloom Education Society. The Sultan-ul-Uloom Education Society began as an educational initiative with an underlying mission to equip students of diverse disciplines with the skills and competencies needed to face the fast-changing world. Over the last two decades, Society has grown and branched into a giant tree of learning under which 9 institutions straddling diverse areas of learning. Keeping pace with rapidly evolving ideas and technologies through quality education has been the main source of the growth of our institutions. And then there are 11 Ph.D., senior faculty members, that are highly motivated.

What do you think should be the institution’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“To build and enhance incubation centre and R&D department”

We have consolidated ourselves in academics. Now we are striving to strengthen our R&D, and entrepreneurial centre and also our incubation centre. We want to guide our students who want to start their ventures. We are doing this as our topmost priority and making sure that a support system is created. We have established an R&D centre, and are looking forward to strengthening them.

What are some of the biggest challenges for the education sector?

“A need to modify the syllabus and bring in modern changes to the sector”

In general, there's a gap between us, our academics and industry's requirements. Although the syllabus gets revised quite often there’s still a huge margin for improvement. There is also a lack of diverse options for pharmacy students. Also, the syllabus is restricted in particular to the college of pharmacy.
