Dr. Arun Kumar is the Director at Dolphin PG Institute of Biomedical & Natural Sciences. For his incredible and dedicated passion towards education, he is associated with the teaching and learning process with many organizations for almost five decades as a guest faculty. However, his primary responsibility was as a Scientist under the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt. of India. It was therefore natural to choose academics as a career on taking VRS from Govt. of India in 2006 after serving for 33 years in Group ‘A’ GOI Services. Read his views that he shares in his interview.


How do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your institute?

“Word of the appreciation from the mouth of the student is the best marketing strategy, in my opinion”

I strive to develop the intellectual ability of students, offer possibilities by which the students discern their purpose in life. I help them to achieve their goals by overseeing that they have access to practical approaches to learning, allow them to work efficiently outside the classrooms and form social consciousness in them. It helps them to become capable of fostering a good relationship with others. It is my endeavour to ensure that college is at par with other Higher Educational institutes of the Country by adapting to modern educational concepts and practices, which are also audited and verified by UGC accredited organizations like NAAC. 

I believe in the philosophy if you have quality mixed with care for students, it will be a marketing strategy in itself. 


How does the curriculum of the Dolphin Institute ensure the best practice of industry?

A stimulating academic atmosphere under the guidance of a young and dynamic faculty and the overall vision of amply experienced senior faculty provides a dynamic combination. The emphasis is on developing substantial Curricular Aspects and Teaching-Learning Processes. 

  • We have diversified the programs in tune with the trending career opportunities. The college conducts placement oriented programs like Pharma Chemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Medical Lab Technology, Physiotherapy, Forestry and Agriculture, etc. which are introduced in only a few colleges of the state. 
  • We regularly organize multiple workshops, CMEs, hands-on-trainings, seminars, Symposium, one-day colloquium, in collaboration with reputed organizations or trainers to address the evolving challenges at different levels. 
  • We ensure students have skills to start their venture after completing their studies. The CBSD Cell promotes and supports rural entrepreneurship in the region through training, demonstration and dissemination of technologies and opportunities to the grass root people through various channels.

The irreplaceable assets of our College are faculty, students and staff and each of the group have its specific interests within the same organization.The college has achieved remarkable success for its students and faculty in terms of their academic knowledge, skill enhancement and awareness about crucial issues both academically, based on career and social issues, especially for women.

  • The College has a broad representation of vast demographic diversity of our country; by and large students from almost 80% States and UT of the country are studying in the College, besides students from two SAARC countries, namely Nepal & Bhutan. 
  • The diversity on college campuses enriches the experience in various ways. For many students, the non-homogenous composition of the College population becomes their introduction to the world as it is a departure from their sheltered backgrounds. For others, who are already familiar with diverse communities, the multi-ethnic multicultural campus environment is an affirmation of their experience. 

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

“Students should make effective use of the opportunities to shape their career”

The New Education Policy 2020 aims to increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio in higher education, including vocational education from 26.3% to 50% by 2035. Another essential objective of the policy is to make India “a global knowledge superpower”. 

One of the stated aims of the policy is to instill a “deep-rooted pride” in being Indian, not only in thought, but also in spirit, intellect, and deeds. Also, to develop knowledge, skills, values, and dispositions that support responsible commitment to human rights.

I strongly feel that our country is at a critical threshold of a very bright and promising future for every youth of the country. They must rise to the occasion and avail the opportunities to shape their career since they would have no fewer options than their counterparts anywhere in the world. Only things follow the good old saying ‘there is no shortcut to successes.
