Interview by Pratyasha
Ms. Monika Mittal is designated as the Vice-Chairperson of Anand International College of Engineering. She holds an MBA degree from the University of Northampton (UK) and certification in Marketing Principles from Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK). Her continual pursuance with international credentials, committed efforts and innovative thinking is shaping the Anand-ICE into an institute for exceptional learning and contemporary engineering education.
In an exclusive interview with Collegedunia.com, Ms. Mittal shares her view on the education industry and talks about Anand ICE.
Experience in the Education Industry
The education industry is directly linked with the nation’s future by inculcating knowledge, skills, and values in the next generation. In other words, it is a process of molding the young minds and making them responsible citizens who will shape our tomorrow. Without education, there will be no competency among people to become professional doctors, scientists, engineers, teachers, or even a businessman.
It can be concluded that this industry makes other industries to happen. It’s not the money factor but the potential to bring a change in a society that provides satisfaction as an educationist.
Decentralized leadership style
According to me, a good leader is the one who takes his/her team along throughout the journey. It is also important to show faith in the group and always provide a platform to grow and develop. Because, if the team progresses, it’s ultimately the leader and the organization that will emerge. Talking about myself, I try to follow the decentralized version, where the team is involved in the decision making process. There is a freedom of thoughts with an open platform for feedback.
Industry-Synced curriculum
At Anand-ICE, we believe that it is highly necessary to prepare the students according to the industry requirements. The following infographic represents a brief of the syllabi at the institute:
Methods opted to build relationship with students
Being a part of the Management, it is necessary to have direct interaction with the students on the campus to understand whether our vision and ideas is reaching to them or not. Therefore, I try to have a straightforward conversation with them from time to time. Ultimately, the college is because of its students, and only they can provide real feedback of everything. It is always best to have transparency in the system.

Though we have a proper grievance redressal system, however, a student can always reach out to me in case his concern/query is unresolved. Even the students may drop in their feedback or suggestions in the suggestion box, which is directly under my control. Alternatively, they can take an appointment to meet me if the matter is of an urgent nature.
Upcoming goals for the Institute
Since we are linked with technical education, it always has scope for innovations, research, and advancement. Also, in this fast-moving world, the industry expectations change drastically looking for talents with knowledge about the latest technologies. Therefore, to achieve this, we have a plan to move towards the university model, so that we can bring in those courses which are in current demand by the industries.
Secondly, we are continually working towards quality enhancement in education and to achieve a higher mark of excellence in academics further. These two are the major goals that we need to achieve right now.
Advice to the future generations
Although today’s youth is much more aware of the options and scopes in different fields, still I have observed that in most cases, their choices are driven by peer pressure and social expectations. Therefore, I would ask them to follow their passion rather than following the crowd.
