Amit Bohra is working as an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science and Engineering Department at Global Institute of Technology, Jaipur, Rajasthan. He has more than 14 years of experience in the academic and teaching sector. At GIT, he is accountable for refining academic excellence, providing hands-on skills to students and for providing improved practical learning of students using various platforms. Further, he supervises all examination related tasks of the CSE Department and he is also overseeing research projects, supervising Master’s thesis. Being a Faculty of the CSE Department, what are your responsibilities towards the students?

"To inculcate best ethical values in them and help them to create a better future for themselves"

As a faculty, I am responsible for offering the finest quality education to students, inculcating disciplined behaviour in them, and taking their assessments regularly. I also need to prepare and execute lesson plans and also make sure that students gets desired output after attending lectures.

How do you establish a healthy relationship with the students and fellow faculty?

"By regularly interacting with them on and off the classroom teaching"

I use a very simple mantra to maintain a healthy relationship with my students and that is I interact with them on a regular basis in and outside the classroom teaching. 

How do you introduce a practical and industry based approach towards subjects?

"I do conduct lot of experiments to strengthen students core concepts of subjects"

For the purpose of enforcing a practical and industry driven approach in subjects, I mainly focus on strengthening practical knowledge of students, providing them job-oriented courses and maintaining transparency in assessing their skills and knowledge.

Which best practices are offered by your department to the students to help them gain necessary skills?

"Apprenticeships, tech fests and innovation competitions are organized to benefit students"

Regular communication and aptitude training are offered to students to make them interview ready. We also encourage students to pursue internships during their vacations and acquire necessary problem solving skills and also to compete in external competitions like tech fests, paper presentations and idea and innovation contests for which students' projects are certified by companies.

How do you strategize and update the curriculum to make it befitting for the students?

"By involving relevant stakeholders, academicians and industry experts while updating the curriculum"

We rigourous analyze the students' needs and industry requirements while drafting and updating our curriculum. Also industry experts, top academicians and management persons are included in the review process for their suggestions and inputs on what kinds of programs should be included in the curriculum and what we should remove from it. 

How does your department prepare students for placement and higher education?

"Personality development trainings and counseling sessions to educate students on higher education is done by us"

To make our students placement ready, we conduct appropriate training programs, personality development classes and communication training etc. I also encourage them to improve their networking with people having different skills sets. And every kind of support is provided by us to them with respect to course choice, their scope and application process.

How do you prepare your students to cope up with this competitive world?

"By appreciating their achievements and encouraging them to set achievable goals for themselves"

For the purpose of preparing our students for this competitive world, before every semester, I create varied lesson plans and divide the whole syllabus into different parts, as this approach helps me to finish important topics first. I never leave any opportunity to appreciate my students whenever they achieve new heights and perform well in academic and non-academic activities. I also encourage them to set realistic goals for themselves and use humor while teaching students to make the classroom environment light.

Which extracurricular activities are organized in college to enhance the skills of students?

"Community programs, volunteering activities and games are organized frequently in our college"

We regularly organize community service programs, volunteering tasks, sports activities including both indoor and outdoor games in our college to enhance students skills. In addition to this, visual arts, performing arts, comedy, and culinary arts related activities are also arranged by our college clubs to bring out hidden talents of students. Lastly, blogging competitions, film making competitions, hiking, Rubik's Cube competitions, Cosplay, and many more events are conducted.

What challenges have you faced to uplift the education quality of your department?

"We have faced many challenges while establishing the infrastructure to execute these courses smoothly"

We have faced many challenges including convincing students to take paid training courses to improve their skills and also in maintaining students-teachers ratio. Apart from this, use of information and communication technologies and developing the curriculum as per ever changing industry demands and students requirements were two other roadblocks for us.

With what mission in mind you joined this college?

"My motive was to upgrade students skills to that extent so they can face outside world with more confidence"

While I joined this college, my aim was to provide the finest quality education to students so that they can compete confidently in the job market.
