Kalol Institute and Research Center

You have held key positions at Kalol Institute and Research Centre throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

Key factor I would say that-

  •  The education sector is not a profession, it is a service we can say , A service towards building a particular community of Technologists, Technocrats, scientists, real time applicator engineers, in short it is a service of building a nation.
  •  The education sector is the only sector in which you can deal with so many young minds and carve them into good citizens.
  • The education sector is the only sector in which you can touch every layer of society.
  • It is the only sector where you can bridge the gap for students from academia to industry.

I think the above are the only factor that had kept me connected and foundationally strong toward serving the education sector.

Being the Executive Chairman of Kalol Institute and Research Centre, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

My philosophy of leadership is –“ Leader creates another leader”

As I had been connected to this institute from the time its foundation stone was laid, I had gone through so many positions starting from scratch, from HOD of mechanical Eng dept. Teaching in classrooms, Being convenor at ACPC help centres at my college, I had taken the various reforms that are required for the betterment of this institution. Taking responsibility of the various Techfest, culture fest, various functions at university levels and all these activities remain successful it’s because not being by a boss, but my passion and enthusiasm for taking and involving everybody into system and made them aware and learn the joy behind serving the student/pupils desire, by providing various platforms to students and making my subordinates feels that you were the reason due to which students enjoyed this event or fest. Hence, the hidden joy and satisfaction that I could inculcate in the minds of my subordinates helped me very well. Now that I have reached the apex position but the colleagues who had worked with me are now very able to tackle the events and programs, this is the success for me. I am satisfied and relaxed that the manpower I had created is doing an excellent job, even if I am not present at that juncture.

Being the Executive Chairman of Kalol Institute and Research Centre, how do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?

After reaching this apex position, I gained enough experience to manage and strategize the things: Nowadays policy framed for education comes with predetermined SOP, what is required in terms of infra, finance and admin is predetermined by honorable education dept.

We always follow the guidelines and policy framed by the education dept. What can be done more is seen in the vision carved out by our honourable philanthropist Dr A.K. Patel and group of directors Geetaben Patel and Parin Patel. Out of these predetermined policies and SOPs how we can give best of this to the dwellers of our surrounding area that we take care of. The nutritious environment, nutritious teaching, best Student teacher ratio, best relation among students and parents with our teaching and non-teaching staff, provision for scholarship schemes in short, every possible nutrition to excel for students, which we display in our media forums, and we have the past academic records of our bright students that speaks more than what we display, we believe in actions speaks more than a word.

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in Kalol Institute and Research Centre?

I truly agree with you on this question, in India we have quite a rigorous education system starting from school, intermediate to university college level, but this system creates a sense of tension rather than a sense of more consciousness towards academia among Indian students.Because this the only base to earn the bread, that applies to me, you and all and we had passed through same system, and this has become the default that if we study well, we will stand well to earn. If you talk about KIRC education campus at our institute we are having MOU with various leading IELTS coaching centres who are offering us best in the market to prepare our students who want to move out of India for studies. Also, also there is a provision for an externship by GTU in which during their final year semester they can complete one semester over there than come back and earn a degree so that they can have a spark of globalisation in their cv.Also, happy to tell you that we also had and MOU with EU university of Australia where a student can avail the same benefit and can add the touch of globalisation in his academia.

How does the curriculum of Kalol Institute and Research Centre ensure the best practice of the industry?

We at KIRC are AICTE approved and GTU affiliated College, other colleges of campus are likewise approved and affiliated to Govt. Gujarat University affiliations like Gujarat University, Gujarat Ayurved university, Nursing Council, etc.) than if you go through the syllabus of those universities which we project to our students by our best faculties in terms of theory and practicals as per the current scenarios of Industry practices and standards. Hence, we can say that by taking admission in KIRC parents just need to be relaxed that his pupil is in safe hands till he completes his/her studies. And he/she will leave the campus with flying colours and will get absorbed in very well sustainable earnings.

Any insights into how Kalol Institute and Research Centre could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

As I told previously that this is the only sector that can touch every layer of society, Students from all layers of society and every race, religion are warmly welcomed at our institution. If we talk about economic conditions than parents do not need to worry, we are having very nominal rates on our college fees which are distributed evenly in the semester system. On other note happy to inform you that we are also providing the platforms to our students through honourable Govt of Gujarat scholarship programs in which we are affiliated with them, in which students from Open general scoring 60 % in their intermediate can avail MYSY scholarship, Students from SC-ST category can avail full scholarship from GOG Post matric scholarship, OBC students can also avail the same. Minority students can avail Minority scholarship from GOI. Single mother children can also avail MYSY scholarship. In short, students once take admission in KIRC are free from any sort of Economic Shortfall that parents fear of, every possible medium of help and awareness are provided from our staff towards our students.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the Kalol Institute and Research Centre and the students are?

“Wholesomeness” in every aspect of students and institution building I would like to say in one word. KIRC had given me the responsibility to sail the campus, so being the best Sailor is the only option I have and with great powers there comes great responsibility.I will say with my core dedication towards serving the education sector, my principles, my vision, blessings of my parents and gurus and my faith in God. I will sail this responsibility at its best to serve my students and my organisation so that it can grow without any limits.

What do you think should be the Kalol Institute and Research Centre’s top priority over the next 10 years?

As you can see, we have a very well established campus since 2006. We had expanded to 41 acres, We have everything and we have grown very well over the years. As in we are well saturated. But you know one should not be “A bare minimum guy”. We have very structured planning committee, visionary board of directors and very talented manpower from the education diaspora. Yes, we do have a vision for the best pace of growth, and we are working well on its execution over the coming years we have decided some mottos: -

  1. Best utilisation of resources that we have.
  2.  Atal Incubation centre, with university collab
  3.  Best collaboration with industry experts, to bridge academia industry gap.
  4. Best collab in Medicine and health care.
  5. Innovative talent edge programs for our students and awareness for off bit courses.
  6. Best talent acquisition, and bringing skill-based programs to our campus.
  7. Best practical follow up to prepare well our students in current competitive scenarios.
  8.  Bringing more technical and innovative policies for growth.
  9. Environmental and Social governance with government programs.
  10. Implementing best pedagogy practices at every college on our campus.

When you first came to Kalol Institute and Research Centre, what was your vision for the Kalol Institute and Research Centre? Has it evolved over time, and how far along in implementing that vision are you?

This question answer is a mix of nostalgia and many emotions for me, As I stated previously that I had started my career from the very scratch when the foundation stone was laid for this institute having just three buildings, started as an engineering college and now it’s a humongous campus of more than 10 colleges altogether spread over 41 acres and within a short span will be adding a medical college too. During the early age of my career, I was just having a feeling of an employee but day by day responsibilities increased and my roles also got changed with changing scenarios and swift in education policies. I took this as a challenge as it was given to me by my Director and group of directors seeing my dedication and sincerity towards my work. I came in contact with so many huge delegates and many experts and many industrious personnel and intellectuals and I always have a tendency to have keen observations and a learning attitude.

I started developing the vision for providing the best and utilising the best of resources we have with us. Various ideas had been shared by me towards my board of directors and they had given me ample platform to express it and my economic thinking that we can do best out whatever little we have in early stages. That was the time I started shaping my career and shaping my organisational goals towards best output. I worked result oriented with minimal inputs and that worked very well. Starting from three buildings and converting it into a flourished campus of 41 acres took so much determination, goals and proper planning. With the time we have implemented best practices in education, we are thankful to our colleagues who have helped us through their services. Teaching, Non-teaching, Admin guys, housekeeping guys and keeping them all with us, sharing the joys and sorrows with each other being part into one another ups and downs had attached us emotionally and well as an extended family. With respect to whatever views, I had shared with them and my board members for the betterment of this institution they had never told me NO and always appreciated my views and ideas of development. With all these years of consistent work and passion for the education sector. Today I am in front of you. All this best In KIRC you can see is the result of small integration over the years of my and others goals, views, vision and prospects altogether.

What would you like people to know about Kalol Institute and Research Centre they may not know?

If you would ask me, I would tell only the best which may look like a hype to other viewers. Yes, if you talk more practically one would have a mindset that location is in Taluka place will there be a good connectivity of transportation, other facilities one can avail outside the campus will be of good level or not. But previously it was the case! Now the location in which college has formed and the surrounding area has changed enormously with good residential areas, nice restaurants, food outlets, D-mart mall nearby, inox theatres where students after the college timings can have fun outside the college premises with appropriate timings and permission. Also, the location of college is near to Ahmedabad mehsana highway where one can have brilliant connectivity of buses and other modes and can flourish as well connect the outside world off the campus very well.
