RIMT Bareilly

Dr. Anil Kumar is the Director Academics at Rajshree Institute of Management and Technology, Bareilly. Having over two decades of experience in the education industry, he goes on to express his leadership style that he follows to cultivate maximum results. His sheer determination towards students to outrank everyone and be on the top, makes his ideology idiosyncratic. Read his thoughts here in his interview what he has to say.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“My philosophy is to bring out the best in every team member by doing the groundwork of knowing them well”

I lead by facilitating open communication and bringing out the best in every team member, including students or faculty and staff members. I give each member a chance to do what they’re best at and create a team effort that delivers a more remarkable minimum time result.I would describe my leadership style as direct and leading by example. I enjoy delegating tasks and taking the lead on projects, but I also like to stay involved and inspire my team by displaying that I’m working hands-on to help them, too.

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute?

“The Indian education system has conquered a strong position across the world”

India is a popular destination for higher education amongst international students as the country has an unparalleled variety of academic courses. A large number of students fly to India every year from all corners of the globe for learning. Studying in India, the second-largest higher education network globally, is an enriching experience. At Rajshree, a welcoming atmosphere, a non-discriminative approach, and an assured educational and career growth can attract students from all over the World and assure the best skills-based educational atmosphere, quality assurance mechanisms, and career growth for all. We emphasize human values and believe in the Guru-Shishya parampara as an inevitable part of our education system. It strengthens the emotional, intellectual, and spiritual bonding between them. It creates lifelong learning to acquire new knowledge and upgrade one's skills, particularly in this age of rapid technological and economic changes.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Education Sector is rewarding and dynamic, where we make a tangible impact on young people's lives”

Jobs in the education sector are often demanding and fulfilling, which has an excellent reputation and respect for academicians by society. It provides exposure from multiple perspectives, which means no two days will be the same. We have to work closely with students, guiding them to realize their true potential. The paradigms of digital education in India are growing at a rapid pace. It is expanding relevance to societal issues, and we have ongoing opportunities to build our understanding and ability. I am connected to this education sector because it profoundly impacts students' lives and impacts their future, family, and community. It also makes an outstanding contribution to economic growth and development and looks to improve the quality of life of everyone and provide lifelong learning opportunities.

“Rajshree Institute has set up an Industry Advisory Board and Industry Interaction Cell (IIC) intending to establish strong industry connections, conduct workshops; such as MDP, FDPs, training programs with collaboration with industry, exploring placement and internship opportunities.”

Any insights into how your Institute could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

“We create an ambient atmosphere that helps students get comfortable and they can focus on learning”

Rajshree Institute created an equal learning environment for all the students irrespective of different races or economic backgrounds, where all feel safe, valued, and respected. Students must achieve and demonstrate their full potential. Since a hostile environment can be an obstacle to learning, faculty members of Rajshree Institute build and maintain such a climate that values diversity and encourages learning together not limited to particular gender, race/ethnicity, immigration status, sexual orientation, disability, age, socioeconomic status, and religion. Faculty and Staff members strive to understand their students holistically so that all students feel comfortable and focused on learning equally.

What do you think should be the Institutes top priority over the next 10 years?

“Our plan is to become a center of excellence by leveraging budding technologies”

  • Impart education on emerging areas like artificial intelligence, drone technology, data analytics, IOT, Serverless computing, Virtual reality (VR)/augmented reality (AR), etc.
  • We want more and more students to be employable. They should have essential skills to engage with society and industry productively.
  • Adoption of an outcome-based, flipped classroom-instructional strategy and blended learning focused on student engagement
  • Regularly revised curriculum framework, induction programmes for students, modules on soft skills and ICT-based learning
  • Priorities for establishing collaborations with industries and top universities and institutions for industry-university links, technology transfer and developing incubation centres
  • More step closure to achieve digitization in all departments
The role of Indian higher educational institutes such as colleges and universities in the present time is to provide quality based education in the field of education, research, etc. to empower youth for self-sustainability. However, it faces many challenges as it serves a wide array of students with differing needs, resources, and capacities.”

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

“We are currently in a very challenging and hostile environment. For today’s youth I have following suggestions”

  • Think before you act. The simple but effective process of thought will help you avoid making critical mistakes.
  • Avoid being part of the crowd, Be humble and establish a set of values
  • Life is not easy; there is no short-cut to success and we should continue to struggle to achieve success and a good career.
  • Achieving the goals requires effort and hard work, even if we do not enjoy doing that work.
  • Believe in yourself and must have your aim in life.
