Being the Head of the Zoology Department, what are your responsibilities towards the students?
"To address their queries, guide them and review course curriculum and suggest necessary changes"
As a Head of the Zoology Department, I need to communicate with my students to identify their problems and then find solutions for the same after consulting with our respected principal. In addition to this, maintaining discipline, good behavior and collecting feedback from students about faculty, their teaching strategies and behaviour with students are some of my other responsibilities. I also need to connect with parents of our students to make them aware about the academic progress of students by communicating marks and attendance to them. Guiding students who are irregular in classes, arranging special classes for slow learners, responding to students grievances and requests, reviewing and developing new programs for their benefit, creating a dynamic and forward-looking environment for both staff and students are some other accountabilities of mine.
How do you establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?
"By offering them an environment where they can share their issues with me with full trust"
I have established a transparent and trustworthy communication environment in my college so that students can share their problems and academic queries with us without any hesitation. And while I interact with them, I listen to them very carefully and try to understand things from their point of view. And since every student is important for us, we offer equal learning opportunities to them.
How do you introduce a practical and industry driven approach towards subjects?
"By keeping ourselves updated about latest industrial trends and assigning projects to students"
We do several things to ensure the industry-oriented approach for subjects we teach to students. We keep ourselves updated with the latest trends and technologies and try to incorporate the same in our classroom teaching. Apart from this, industry experts are invited to conduct workshops in our college in order to guide our students about how actually the corporate world operates and which skills they will be required to get a good job in reputed organizations. Students are encouraged to participate in national and international conferences and also to take mini-major projects and internships to strengthen their skills and prepare them for the future in areas that we as an educational institution cannot.

While drafting and updating our curriculum, we keep the vision and mission of our college in mind and also analyze what exactly are the demands of our students. After this, we identify the available resources and plan how we can use them to teach our students in the best possible way. We also stay connected with industry experts to their inputs and suggestions to develop plans, methods and processes. In addition to this, we have created an evaluation and feedback system to get inputs about the curriculum from students and teachers.
What are your views on the placements and higher education of the students from your department?
"It depends completely on students, as both taking placements or pursuing higher education have their own pros"
I firmly believe that those students who don't have any plans for pursuing higher education, students who wish to get some work experience and hands-on experience on latest technologies or those having some financial instability go for the placements. On the other hand, pursuing higher education is a great option for students who want to go into the teaching field or do some kind of research in areas of their interests.
How do you prepare your students to cope up with this competitive world?
"I encourage my students to devote their time to learn those skills which can benefit them in long run"
I keep motivating my dear students to focus more on their self-development, learn new skills, work on their weaknesses, because once they will be skilled enough, they will be confident enough to face this world with more courage. And for this, I assign them creative kinds of activities on a regular basis to keep them busy with finding solutions for some real world problems.

"Through regular feedback mechanism, I keep updating my teaching pedagogies"
For the purpose of teaching other important things which are not in the curriculum to students, I regularly give them feedback about their academic perspective and also encourage them to learn new things.
