Views on Education Industry - Learn to unlearn and unlearn to relearn

The education industry provides us an opportunity to mingle with young minds filled with enthusiasm and creativity. Being in this sector for a long time now, I have observed many changes. The students have now become more techno-savvy, but at the same time impatient as well. With the advent of technological advancements, students are more in need of a facilitator/counselor than a teacher. Today’s education field demands you to be a lifelong learner and to give this generation a name; I must say they belong to the ‘Guru Google’ era.

A true leader is the one, who develops more leaders

I believe in empowering my subordinates by providing them full autonomy to their work. This results in innovation and creativity and also induces a sense of belongingness within and towards the workplace. The staff should be provided with a platform, where they can openly communicate and share their views and ideas. This will result in the holistic development of the organization as well as the team members.

Curriculum practices at Datta Meghe Institute

Being an autonomous institute, we have the freedom to frame our syllabus. With the help of industry personnel, the curriculum is designed in accordance with market requirements. The institute has included both core subjects and skill enhancement courses as well.

There are additional electives subjects such as Operations & Logistics and Business Analytics to cater to the needs of industry scenario. To get a better experience of the industry, a semester-long internship in industry is also provided to the students.

Building positive values and attitude among students

The institute has students coming from varied backgrounds, but we have never faced any cultural issue. We maintain a conducive environment in the campus to support diversity. Through experiential learning and various co-curricular events, the students are provided a platform to collaborate. This results in teamwork and positive culture among the students as well as faculty members.

Experiential learning - Placement opportunities

Datta Meghe Institute is known to have an excellent placement record. We provide domain-specific pre-placement training, which includes GD-PI, Aptitude Development, Language training, and many more. The students are provided with a counselor who guides them in their weak areas. They conduct a SWOT analysis (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, and Threats) to make the students aware of their weak areas.

Methods opted to build a positive relationship with the students

Here, students and the faculty is very clear that I have an open-door policy. Each of the individuals associated with the organization is most welcomed to come in my office and discuss their issues or ideas. Students find no problem or hesitate when they have to communicate with me. Personally, I also take lectures, which helps me to keep in touch with the students as well.

Suggestion to the students I believe, today’s youth has a lot of potential and ideas stored within them. All I need them to know is, to stay positive and passionate about their dreams.
