Collegedunia Team: Describe the general setting of WAT / GD (if any).

Vanshdeep: The WAT/GD process at JBIMS is an important aspect of the selection process for the MBA program. The process is designed to evaluate the candidate's communication skills, leadership potential, problem-solving abilities, and overall suitability for the program.

The GD at JBIMS is conducted offline and is typically held in a classroom setting. The group size varies, but usually, there are 8-10 students in each group. The moderator is usually a faculty member from the institute, who is present to ensure that the discussion stays on topic and that all students have an equal opportunity to speak.

Collegedunia Team: What was the WAT/GD Topic?

Vanshdeep: The topic of the GD during my experience at JBIMS was "The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Job Market"

Before the discussion began, we were given a few minutes to think about the topic and gather our thoughts. The moderator gave a brief introduction about the topic and then the discussion started. I found that everyone in my group had different perspectives and ideas about the topic which made the discussion quite interesting.

The discussion was not aggressive but rather it was a soft one, where the focus was on evaluating the candidate's communication skills and ability to work in a team. Candidates were expected to be respectful of their peers, and to listen actively to what others had to say.

I was able to speak my mind and share my perspectives on the topic. I also listened actively to what my peers had to say and tried to find common ground and build on their ideas. I also asked questions when I was not clear about something.

Overall, the GD experience at JBIMS was a challenging but a great learning experience. It gave me an opportunity to showcase my skills and abilities to the college. With the right preparation and attitude, candidates can make the most of this opportunity and impress the panel.

Collegedunia Team: What was your answer/points put forward for the WAT or GD respectively?

Vanshdeep: The points that I had put forward for the discussion rounds were:

1)Artificial intelligence has the potential to automate many jobs and change the way we work.

2)The rise of AI will lead to the loss of jobs in certain sectors, but it will also create new opportunities in areas such as data analysis and machine learning.

3)Companies need to adapt to the changing job market by investing in retraining and upskilling their employees.

4)Governments should also invest in education and training programs to prepare people for the jobs of the future.

5)The use of AI in the workplace has the potential to increase productivity and efficiency, but it also raises ethical concerns about worker displacement and privacy.

6)It's important to find a balance between the benefits of AI and the need to protect jobs and worker rights.

Vanshdeep: The personal interview is conducted by a panel of 2-3 members, which typically includes faculty members, alumni, and industry experts. The panel members have a diverse background and are chosen to provide a well-rounded evaluation of the candidate.

The personal interview is conducted offline, in a classroom setting. The duration of the interview varies, but typically lasts for about 30-45 minutes.

The interview is not a stress interview, but rather it is a conversation that is designed to evaluate the candidate's skills and abilities. The panel may ask a variety of questions, including questions about the candidate's background, experiences, and career goals. They may also ask behavioural questions that are designed to evaluate the candidate's problem-solving and leadership abilities.
