Dr Pushplata is a Pro Vice Chancellor in the K R Mangalam University, Gurgaon, Haryana. She holds an excellent academic experience of more than three decades. She is a Gold Medalist in research and a recipient of several Best Paper Awards for her remarkable work. She has published over 61 papers in prestigious Journals on Life Sciences and Education. It has delivered talks in national and international conferences. Dr Tripathi earned her Ph. D. in Genetics from the University of Delhi. She has been a renowned professor of Life Sciences and has held major administrative roles during her career. Prior to her association with KRMU, she was Pro-Vice-Chancellor at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. Dr Tripathi has also worked as Registrar, SED at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Delhi.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“New academic teaching, learning and research scopes connect me with the education sector”

Education is the backbone of any country’s socio-economic development. India’s education sector is very dynamic and expanding exponentially. There are lots of new academic teaching, learning and research scopes unfolding in India especially with the inception of the National Education Policy 2020.


Being the Chancellor of K R Mangalam University, what is your philosophy of leadership and describe your leadership style?

“To take the lead and provide tangible direction to facilitate smooth operation of the team”

I believe in teamwork. My leadership philosophy is to take lead, provide tangible and viable direction to facilitate smooth operation of the team. Motivating the team members and trouble- shooting the problem without any delay are cornerstones of my leadership style.


How do you strategize about the key programs for the marketing and administration of campus?

“Update course curriculum, and manage requirements of industry/external stakeholders in campus”

All the key programs of my institution should have a relevant focus of academia-industry-high-end research integration. Regular updating of the course curriculum in conformity to the changing needs and requirements of industry/external stakeholders. It in turn enhances the potential of students' employability and all-round development are integral components of my administrative priorities. 


The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying in K R Mangalam University?

“Well defined programs with international learning experience are available to pupils”

Students in my institution are destined to experience an international learning environment that is comparable to global developments. My institution’s educational philosophy and program structure are well aligned to the standards or requirements as benchmarked by prestigious foreign institutions. Lastly, the collaborations that my institution has with other institutions in foreign countries. It is very helpful for our students to get an international exposure.


Any insights into how your university could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

“Encourages multicultural international educational experience for students on our campus”

Our university encourages multicultural international educational experience for students. We are looking for amicable collaboration with our international academic partners to have a sizable presence of foreign students and faculty as part of academic exchange programs.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities are to the K R Mangalam University and students?

“To provide guidance to my team and students on campus”

My role is to provide effective guidance and leadership to my team and students. The idea is to facilitate streamlining of the academic system for smooth operation of academic and extracurricular activities. It will further enhance student and faculty potential to excel in the academic environment globally.


What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“To enhance foreign collaborations to facilitate academic and research exchange programs on campus is top priority for next year”

Our first priority is to excel in the academic and research capabilities of the University. It makes a truly world standard learning environment. I also enhance foreign collaborations to facilitate academic and research exchange programs. Another priority is to enforce and comply with the tenets of the National Education Policy 2020 and SDG. Collaboration with industry and make the university dynamic or adaptive to changing dimensions in the global educational environment are other needs of campus in the next few years. 


When you first came to K R Mangalam University, what was your vision for the university and how far along in implementing that vision?

“To make the university an institution that will cater to man-making and character-building education”

At the time of joining the university, my vision was to make the university an institution that will cater to man-making and character-building education to the students. My vision remains the same today also. The university has evolved and embarked into a higher trajectory of academic accomplishments and holistic development of students. We enhanced environmental sensitivity and empathy to marginalized sections of the society through effective outreach programs.


What would you like people to know about your university they may not know?

“Promote campus vision and belief system among the students who will further propagate the university’s image”

Our university is a growing organization that propels international standard educational experience. I believe that my students are brand ambassadors in an external environment. Our university should promote its vision and belief system among the students who will further propagate the university’s image in the external world.


What do you see as K R Mangalam University greatest strengths?

“Effective mentor-mentee system, world class-infrastructure and dedicated academic excellence are our greatest strengths”

Highly educated and capable faculty members who are dedicated to our academic excellence. Some of the primary strengths of campus include world-class infrastructure, effective mentor-mentee system that is highly streamlined, and a student counseling system that is holistic in nature. We provide 100% placement assistance to students. 


What are some of the biggest challenges you see for higher education in general and campus?

“Adapting to changing needs and requirements in a global environment is a toughest task”

Our higher education system needs to be more pragmatic, adaptive to changing needs and requirements in the global environment. Greater academic/educational integration along with raising the quality/benchmark of Indian academic institutions should be the highest priority of the Indian education system. My university strives for a holistic educational environment that will equip the students with competencies to address any challenges that global competition will bestow from time to time.


Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

“Be a good and valuable citizen of the country and achieve the pinnacle of success”

What are some plans that you’re currently designing for campus and students?

“Enhance the quality and pedagogy of teaching or learning in my university”

We are promoting collaboration with national/international organizations/academic institutions to integrate with the global environment. Our campus enhances the quality and pedagogy of teaching or learning in my university in order to make it a truly international standard experience for our students. Our campus impart man-making and character-building education as was the philosophy of Swami Vivekananda.


How do you tend to establish a healthy relationship and environment on your campus?

“Provide institutional activities such as conferences, symposia, extra-curricular and cultural activities, training, and placement activities”

Our campus is promoting and inculcating the spirit of interactive teaching or learning environment where students are empowered and encouraged to take lead in smooth conduct of academics in classes.
