Prof. Purnima Nag has a Master's Degree in Chemistry and Ph. D from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. She was awarded a Senior Research Fellowship by CSIR-HRDG, New Delhi in 2002. Her main area of research is Synthesis, Characterization, and Application of Metallo ``organic compounds. She has published 15 research papers in international/national journals. She has also presented several papers at national and international conferences. Prof. Nag is the supervisor of several Ph.D students and is actively associated with various projects and dissertation work in engineering and M.Sc Chemistry Students.
What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

As an Additional Director, I am responsible for ensuring the quality content of instruction in the classroom. We at all times strive to promote the general policies of the University and to achieve the objectives of the school. My main role as a faculty member is to use the new research in a significant field of discipline and incorporate the latest research, information, and hypothesis in class; I have always looked for new and advanced gadgets, strategies, online advances, and techniques that would improve teaching skills in the time of COVID-19. Faculty members help the students to perform practical assignments and skill drills.
How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?
“Provide students with academic and Career guidance via formal and informal interaction”
First, we recognize the individual needs of students accordingly and provide academic and career guidance inclusive of encouragement through formal and informal interactions with students to supplement and improve the regular classroom instruction.
How do you make the subjects industry-oriented?
“Providing students with industrial visits to gain practical experience”
As Additional Director we teach the students job-oriented subjects, keeping the demand of the industry, to develop the practical approach amongst students. As the students are supposed to study co-curricular subjects, such as Dynamics of Machine Laboratory, MatLab and Simulation, Designing Websites and Programming, Personality Development, Career guidance, and Information & Communication Technology. The department adopts three methods as subject-centered, learner-centered, and problem-centered design to train the learner.
How do you update and strategize the curriculum?
“Updation of the Syllabus by designing the strategies”
Being Additional Director, we focus to achieve learning objectives with assessment tactics, training, and collaborative activities. Curriculum gets updated annually through the board of studies meeting according to the recent advancements in the concerned field.

Competition amongst the students is getting tougher these days and if the student is not able to sustain, one will be placed at the end. Knowing the interest of students from the view of parents or teachers or friends or neighbors. We further focus on providing students with the best online courses on MOOC Platforms like Coursera, EDX, and NPTEL.
Do you have any extracurricular programs to enhance the skills of the students?
“We Organise Techfest, Quizzes and online Non-Tech sessions at regular intervals”
Yes, Extracurricular and Co-curricular activities are an intrinsic part of our department. Several events like University fest Technoraaz, Engineer’s Day, Plantation Campaign, Chem Urja, etc. are scheduled throughout the session.
What are the challenges you are facing in uplifting the quality of education of your department?
“To ensure continuous innovation for students even during the pandemic and coming years”
The biggest challenge is the employability rate that is declining. The government along with educational institutes is providing platforms to encourage innovative thinking in young graduates. We also inculcate the spirit of innovation as an engineer. Engineering will continue to be a desirable career stream in the years to come.

What advice would you give to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?
“Students should focus on the changing demands of the industries and adjust themselves according to it”
As hard work is the way to success. I advise the students to work hard to achieve their goals in academics and professional life as well. Today the demands of the industry are changing at an exponential rate. This leads to disruption in the employment cycle. Therefore, Students should focus on the changing demands of the Industries and adjust themselves according to them.
