How will your college's program help students to stand out from the crowd?

“Practically oriented UG and PG courses in the field of Chemistry”

The department offers M.Sc. (Organic and Industrial Chemistry), which is a two years post-graduate program. The master’s program has been designed with the aim of fulfilling the demands for trained human resources to give thrust to the chemical industry and related fields. Successful students become professionally skilled and capable of being absorbed in academics, the chemical industry and research institutions.

Also, we offer B.Sc Honors in Chemistry which is a unique and leading course designed to encourage aspiring students to pursue an undergraduate program.

What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt for?

“A career-oriented and research-based curriculum for students”

The course curriculum of M.Sc consists of four semesters divided into two years and has extensive scope in the future due to its potentially packed syllabus. The B.Sc. (Hons.) A chemistry degree serves as a basis for studies in chemistry and plenty of opportunities in the field of research and development, oil, pharmaceuticals and chemical industries, public health and environmental protection sectors, clinical researches, etc. In Industrial Chemistry, students study various areas of chemistry, like Polymer Science, Biotechnology, Green Chemistry, Forensic Science, etc. These areas of Industrial Chemistry focus on how to make commercial products using various raw materials like polymer, drugs, pesticides, dyes, etc. using industrial procedures.

What will you say are the “best practices” in the course you’re offering?

“Lab sessions to impart practical knowledge into learners minds”

By providing hands-on training to our students, we ensure they will be well-prepared. To solve their doubts, students are taken to the laboratories for a practical explanation. The syllabus serves as a basis for studies in chemistry and plenty of opportunities in the field of research and development, oil, pharmaceuticals and public health and environmental protection sectors.

What are some valuable insights into the program that you are offering?

“The chemical process and procedures covered in the course are extensive”

M.Sc in Organic Chemistry involves the study of structure, properties and reactions of organic compounds. Whereas, Industrial Chemistry allows students to explore and research the methodological approaches to study chemical compounds and how they are used and applied in the formation of other products. The course provides extensive knowledge of chemical processes and procedures that are required and frequently used to create chemical products.

How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?

“Students employability and in-depth knowledge are insured by us”

Preparing students for their field and teaching best industrial practices are essential in today’s world. We plan ahead in the sense that as soon as the students complete their education in 2 years’ time (M.Sc) and 3 years (B.Sc Chemistry Hons.) they should be employable or ready to pursue higher studies.

What approach do you have for the placement of the students?

“Our placement cell coordinates with industrial HR departments and organizes recruitment"

We have a training and placement cell at the university level which has a specially designated Placement Officer and faculty from various Colleges as placement coordinators. The Placement cell coordinates with HR departments of various industries and organizes recruitment at the college campus. We also guide them on higher education options.

How do you tend to build an industry connect with this program?

“Industrial visits and expert guidance by top industry leaders”

Each student participates in at least one industrial visit during the semester. In addition to spending an entire day at the factory, students prepare reports about how the industry operates. Additionally, we arrange expert lectures from a variety of fields in order to inspire and guide our students.
