Capt. Srikanth Chandrasekaran has obtained Bachelor of Engineering in E.E.E. (Electrical and Electronics Engineering) from Park College of Engineering and Technology. He has completed Professional Pilot Training Program from Aviation Training One International and has Completed Flight instructors Course from VISAYAS AEROSPACE COLLEGE AND TECHNOLOGY in Philippines. He has worked in various domain within aviation industry in multiple countries, most of his experience comes from aviation training. With that exposure he currently heads the aviation training in VELS university Chennai.

What is the most recent programme that your VELS University/ Aviation department is offering that will help students excel and stand out?

All these courses comprise of six semesters spanning three years. 

We recommend student who have set their goal to become pilot to choose B.Sc. Aviation. As a pilot's licence applicants must pass government tests, which are included in this Bachelor's degree curriculum. Technical General (Aircraft & Engines) Technical Specific, RTR Air Regulations, Air Navigation, Aviation Meteorology, Technical General (Aircraft & Engines) (Radio Telephony Restricted). The student will also study about basic airport operations in this course.

If a student’s passion is to become an aircraft maintenance engineer, then we suggest them B.Sc. in Aircraft Maintenance, in this course the students will learn all about the aircraft maintenance modules and this course will provide them enough knowledge to clear all the DGCA exams related to Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. 

If the student wish to have a wider spectrum in aviation and for the students who wish to keep their options open between becoming a pilot or to become an Aircraft maintenance engineer could opt for B.Sc. Aeronautical Science, as in this course the student will be exposed to all the subjects related to Pilot and also basic aircraft maintenance module subjects.

BBA Aviation management is for the students who is a willing to explore their leadership qualities in aviation field. The students will learn how to start, operate and increase revenue of an airline and also airport along with general BBA subjects.

The B.Sc. in Aviation is extremely popular and in constant demand. Along with it we also offer B.Sc. in Aeronautical Science, B.Sc. in Aircraft Maintenance and BBA in Aviation management. What obstacles did you face when incorporating this programme into your curriculum?

People with only academic credentials will not be able to adequately give aviation knowledge to the students, and people from the aviation industry would generally not settled down for teaching so its kind of challenging to find the right faculty for the transfer of knowledge.
