VELS University Admission 2024: Dates, Eligibility, Selection Criteria, Application Process

For admissions into both B.E. and B.Tech courses, the applicant must clear the entrance test VEE, which is conducted on an all-India level. The selection of candidates to the professional courses will be made on the basis of merit i.e. marks scored in the qualifying examination and the aforementioned entrance test. For programs like Maritime Studies, one should also pass a Medical Test to be eligible to be applied.

The university’s UG program is as diverse and distinctive as its professional courses. But admission into Vels University UG program is much simpler than its professional courses.

Each UG course has a plethora of eligibility criteria to be fulfilled. An eligible candidate will be called in for a personal interview, conducted by an appointed Committee of the University. And admission to these courses will be based on merit and personal interview.

Vels University and MCA program require the candidates to not only fulfill the eligibility criteria but to also clear the Vels Entrance Test – VEE.

Admission to these courses will be based on merit and marks scored by the candidates in the entrance test as well as the qualifying examination. Once qualified, the applicants will be called for a personal interview. This interview along with the score will determine the admission status of the aspirant. The candidates will first have to participate in a group discussion, after which they will have their personal interview.

The M.E. and M.Tech admissions are quite similar to the other professional course admissions. Aspirants will have to clear the VEE test in order to be qualified for admission. The candidate should also fulfill the prescribed eligibility criteria to appear for the entrance test. Candidates will be selected on the basis of merit and personal interview, conducted by the university.

Vels University PG program has a wide variety of courses. The mentioned professional courses like M.E., M.Tech, and MCA do belong in this category. The common eligibility criteria for PG courses involve a Bachelor’s Degree, most often in the same field.

Admissions to PG programs need the candidates to have the approved eligibility and to have the minimum score in their qualifying examination. Selection will be based on merit and these provisionally selected candidates will then be called for an interview.

VELS University also provides admission to students in Diploma courses under 11 specializations. The eligibility for the course is a pass in 10^th class. 

Admission to Diploma is based on merit in the qualifying exam.

For M.Phil admission, the candidate must clear a common entrance test, followed by an interview with regard to their research interest or area. The candidate will be selected based on the score from both the entrance and interview.

For Ph.D. admission, the candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria, and clear the common entrance test and the viva-voce conducted by the university. Based on their performance in these they will be selected. At the time of admission, the selected candidates should pay the research and admission fee without fail.

Application Process:

• Application forms can be received from the University office 
• Application forms can be obtained through the post in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favor of ‘The Registrar, Vels University payable at Chennai.
• The filled-in application form along with all the enclosures mentioned in the form must be submitted to the university either in person or by post.  

Selection Process

• The provisionally selected candidates (either through the entrance test or through the marks of the qualifying examination) will be called in for a personal interview by the university.
• The admission of any candidate who fails to appear for the interview will automatically be canceled.
• Admission into the various courses will be based on merit and personal interview.
• Once admitted into the course, the candidates and their parents will have to follow certain procedures - sign declarations, pay the fees, and submit all the necessary documents/certificates, after meeting their concerned Head of Department.
• The original documents submitted at the time of admission will only be returned at the time of graduation, so make sure to take plenty of copies of those documents.
• It should also be noted that the fees paid will not be refunded at any point.
• If anyone decides to discontinue after admission, the student is liable to pay the fee for the entire course.
• Any candidates with a qualifying examination other than the HSE conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu should then obtain an Eligibility certificate from the Vels University by remitting the prearranged fee along with the application form.
