Dr. Rajesh Kumar Shukla is the Dean (Faculty of Engineering and Technology) Bareilly, UP. He has completed his M.Sc., MCA, Ph.D. (Mathematics). He has a rich experience of around two decades in research and academics. He has previously worked as Professor, Reader and Lecturer in the Mathematics department. On the administrative front, he has functioned as chief proctor and Officiating Director at this institute. He has published 29 research papers and 11 books during his career.
What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
“Education sector provides the opportunity to produce scholars and intellectuals”
I have always been passionate about teaching and this has been the most important factor for me to continue in the education sector. Besides this, it keeps me directly connected with the youth who will play an important role in nation-building. Being a lifelong learner and a mentor to young individuals motivates me continuously.
What is your philosophy of leadership?
“To be a patient listener and a gentle advisor”
My philosophy of leadership is to be transparent and honest when dealing with team members. My operational style has always been to have a personal connection with all the people in my team. Also, to inspire them to play to their strengths rather than being commanding in nature.

What do you think your responsibilities to the University and the students are?

My main role and responsibility to the university are to actively contribute to its development and smooth operations. Also, acquiring a reputed status among the Indian universities and on a global platform as well. As for students, my main responsibility is to see that they achieve excellence in academics and be comfortable while staying with us.
What do you think should be the University top priority over the next 10 years?
“Receiving accreditations and establishing a global name for Invertis university”
The top priority of the future should be to acquire various accreditations like NAAC, NBA, ICAR etc. We are already in the process of achieving this goal. The other priority should be to work towards making this university’s presence felt in the global perspective by evolving continuously.
What do you see as the University’s greatest strengths?
“Ability to provide relevant, good quality and affordable education to students”
The greatest strength of the university is its core value of always striving to offer the best yet affordable education to all seekers of knowledge. This will allow them to become torchbearers of the society and contribute actively in nation-building.
What are some of the biggest challenges for higher education in the current scenario?
“There exists a large digital divide among students and lack of reliable resources”
The disruption brought in by the unprecedented situation of the COVID19 pandemic has exposed weaknesses in our education system. These mainly include the lack of digital infrastructure and the unavailability of affordable internet services to all corners of the country. As for our university, the reach is not a challenge but lack of digital content is and we have started working to overcome this.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth?
“The true satisfaction in life comes by serving the nation and its people”
I would implore the youth and aspiring students to follow the mantra of “learn, earn and serve”. They must use all the available resources to their optimum benefit. Also, learn skills that are and will be in demand. Use these skills to earn not only money but also respect, trust and good relations.
