Doctor M Sathya is the Director and Principal of the Islamiah Institute of Technology. She holds five specializations in networking topologies, Routing protocols, MANET Organization concepts, and approximation Algorithms. With 11 years of experience in the educational sector, she ensures to make each student of the institute to be guided towards their career path. Some of her excellent academic works include her guidance to 10 thesis and 50 undergraduate projects.
What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
“Education is self- learning with passion and will”
The motive of significant and value-based education for the students. There should be harmony and interest in their stream of education to each student. The will to learn must never go. Education is best obtained with the agreement of what student wants to learn about.
Being the Principal of Islamiah Institute of Technology, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?
“Democratic Leadership brings various perspectives”
My idea of leadership lies in the Democratic leadership. That includes the most active participation of all the members associated with the institute, in their presentation of ideas for the institute. All members of the group take a more participative role in the decision-making process. Our motto is everyone should ‘Learn with joy and work with joy’.
How do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?
“The use of social media and interpersonal activities”
We use different ways like conducting various programs as the marketing strategy of our college. We host webinars, FDP, Workshops in different fields of studies, conferences on paper presentations, and exhibitions to interest faculty, agents, and other members visiting our campus. We operate a social media website for connecting to the outer community. We have displayed the names of students who passed as rank holders from the University.

How does the curriculum of the Islamiah Institute ensure the best practice of industry?
“Guidance to every stream with experience visits to the industries”
- Teachers are given training by TOT Arise, QUEST ALLIANCE- Trainer and Educator certification Program funded by Altran.
- The college has launched Alumni Portal to connect with the alumni and utilize their services, like Guest Lectures, Internship opportunities, placements, etc.,
- Parents meet are conducted to take regular feedback about the progress of their ward and the overall development of the college.
- NSS-Unit of the college has been very active in maintaining the objective of Swachha Bharat Abhiyan. NSS volunteers are actively involved in making this Campus free from plastic and make this campus fit ecologically.
- The institute invites applications from all the classes for the Best class award. The committee evaluates the forms submitted by each class and declares the best Class whose score is maximum.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the University and the students are?
“Various positions come with various responsibilities”
With the view of playing and holding various roles to my college, I believe I have a responsibility to fulfill in each position. As a teacher, I intend to teach the students to understand the concepts clearly. I set a responsibility to help the students to set their careers and motivate the students towards research as my position as a facilitator. I am also a supervisor to them and hence motivate them to be growing in the right direction. Lastly, as a Principal of the college, I need to monitor the teaching-learning process, guidance for research growth in institutions, ensure practical learning is happening.
Any insights into how your university could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?
“We promote anti-racism”
The University is the first university established in the state for the minority. We are committed to providing quality education possible to every student of different races or economic backgrounds. The college is searching for the poorest of the poor and talented students and allotting seats in engineering without charging any fees. After completion of the course, they will be placed in suitable companies and all such students are leading a comfortable life.
What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?
“Objectifying the goals and careers of students with easily accessible education”
The primary objective remains to make higher education more accessible and easily achieved by the number of students possible. The university would also focus on assisting the students to vividly identify their strengths of learning to set an achievable goal for their life. We also would provide complete guidance to students for their startups and firming business.
