Mr. Vishal Pandey is the Secretary of Vision Group of Institutions, Aligarh, Kanpur. The institute comprises Vision Institute of Technology, Vision Institute of Management with campuses at Kanpur and Aligarh. He has completed his MBA and B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. He has been associated with Vision Group Of Institutions for over 18 years and plans on building future leaders and entrepreneurs for the growth of the nation.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Ability to make a difference in the lives of several students”

With over 20 years of experience in education, I have held a variety of important positions at the institute. Passion for my field is what kept me connected to the academic world. Teachers are more than just educators: they are mentors, confidants, and friends. One of the most common reasons to become a teacher is to make a difference in the lives of as many students as you can. The satisfaction I gain from my job comes from seeing my students find employment and thereby generating employment for others.

What can an inbound student gain from studying here in your college?

“Continuous education and a reformed education sector”

While traditional education systems have been designed to decrease learning with age, a new system must emerge whereby people engage in lifelong learning. To realize this vision, a love of learning must be instilled in children from a young age. NEP 2020 has definitely been a pathbreaker and can start a chain reaction of the most required changes in the education system. Whereas the education providers need to rope in fundamental changes at all levels, the parents must realize and appreciate the humongous problem at hand. An urgent scrooge effect needs to settle in when considering education expenses.

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practice of industry?

“Research path allowing for innovation and development”

We start with a reflection on the destination. These are Program Outcomes which you should acquire during your stay in the college. Vocational courses are designed to help you develop the skills required for a successful career. Throughout your professional career, you can improve your skills and reassess your knowledge with the fundamentals. In college, establishing a network and forming relationships with your peers is also important, not only to take advantage of peer-to-peer assistance but also to become a good team player.

The aim of the entire knowledge and skill development should be to start you on a path of research, allowing you innovation and development.

Any insights into how your university practices inclusion?

“Our institute follows the principles of diversity and equity”

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are the bedrock for the sustenance and existence of any society or nation. Our culture and history have pronounced and upheld egalitarianism. Similarly, inclusion becomes extremely essential to retain and thrive the fabric of society as a whole. There cannot be a place more important than an educational institute to start a discourse on values of diversity, equity and inclusion. The young pallbearers of the future need to understand and appreciate these.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth?

“A quest for meaningful answers may begin with asking the right questions”

I have always firmly believed that the questions you cannot answer are far better than answers you cannot question. Never be afraid to ask questions. The Socratic Method has always been the best form of teaching. The most important questions are often those we ask ourselves. You should remember that questions are sacrosanct and cannot be treated lightly. 

What do you see as your college's greatest strengths?

“Dedicated pool of faculty members working through constructive feedback”

At Vision, we feel that one of the first requisites for any teacher is to be a good student. In all aspects of life, we encourage our staff to strive for continuous improvement, and we work to pave the way for this lifelong quest. With the same aspirations, we have started Vision Excellence Awards. These will be for all staff members of Vision Group of Institutions. The winners will be accoladed with gifts and certificates and will be displayed on our social media pages as well as college noticeboards. We will involve feedback from visiting guests, online polls, and student feedback to ascertain winners in different categories.

What would you like people to know about your university they may not know?

“We assist students to understand the importance of emerging technologies”

In the post covid time, which is referred to as the new normal, we are witnessing an unprecedented change in exponential technologies. Emerging Technologies like AI, Machine Learning, and IoT are already impacting the business and the world like never before. They are being used extensively in core branches of engineering like Civil and Mechanical, and even diverse fields like Healthcare, Medicines, Marketing and Finance.

All this is certainly most reassuring for anyone planning to take up engineering as a career. A few months ago, we held a seminar where we tried to answer some of the most relevant questions in the minds of prospective engineering students. During our presentation, we will explain how students can prepare for the future.
