We have a significant impact on the educational experience of students. I believe my primary roles and responsibilities towards students include: Teaching, Advising, Mentoring & Researching. Overall, a faculty member's roles and responsibilities towards students involve not only teaching and advising but also supporting their growth and development as individuals and professionals.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

I try to establish healthy relationships with their students and fellow faculty members, fostering a positive and productive learning and working environment using few of these methods:

  • Establishing open communication: I create an environment where students and faculty members feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and ideas encouraging open communication by being approachable, responsive, and actively listening.
  • Being respectful: I treat everyone with respect and professionalism, regardless of differences in opinions or backgrounds.
  •  Foster collaboration: I encourage collaboration among students and faculty members, and actively seek out opportunities to work together.

What is your philosophy of leadership and describe your leadership style?

Leadership philosophy in teaching refers to the fundamental beliefs and values that guide a teacher's approach to teaching and learning. In general, as a teacher, my philosophy of leadership is student-centered and my leadership style is facilitative. I prioritize the needs and interests of my students, creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages active engagement and inquiry. I guide and support my students in their learning activities, facilitating their growth and development as learners and individuals.

How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated to make it befitting for the students?

Curriculum development involves designing a framework for teaching and learning that defines the knowledge, skills, and competencies that students are expected to learn. To strategize the curriculum, we typically begin by identifying the educational goals and learning outcomes we want to achieve. This involves analysing student needs, identifying key competencies, standards and considering relevant research. The frequency of curriculum updates can vary depending on the context, but it is general we update our curriculum on a regular basis. This involves periodic review by us, as well as ongoing monitoring of student performance and feedback.

How do you build a positive school culture or climate?

Building a positive school culture or climate requires ongoing effort and commitment from all members of the school community. I encourage positive interactions and relationships between students and staff, as well as between peers, by modeling and promoting respectful communication, active listening, and conflict resolution skills. Creating a safe and supportive learning environment by prioritising physical and emotional safety, and by addressing any instances of bullying, harassment, or other negative behaviours. By prioritising inclusivity, positive relationships, recognition, engagement, safety, and community involvement, I try to create a culture that supports student success and well-being.

How do you prepare your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?

By providing students with these skills and experiences, I help them develop the resilience, adaptability, and lifelong learning skills needed to succeed in a highly competitive outside world:

  1.  Cultivate resilience and perseverance: I try to teach students how to bounce back from setbacks and failures, and how to persevere in the face of challenges and obstacles.
  2. Provide Mentorship and guidance: I offer students mentorship and guidance to provide support and guidance as they navigate the challenges of the outside world.
  3. Provide real-world experiences: I try to give my students the opportunity to apply their learning in real-world contexts through internships, service-learning projects and other experiential learning opportunities.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

Extracurricular activities and programs can be a valuable way to enhance students' skills and expose them to real-world challenges. By offering a range of opportunities that cater to diverse

interests and skill sets, schools can help students develop a passion for learning and a well-rounded set of skills that will serve them well in the future.

  1.  Clubs and organisations: We offer a variety of clubs and organisations that allow students to pursue their interests and develop new skills, such as robotics, debate, drama, music, or language clubs.
  2.  Entrepreneurship programs: We provide opportunities for students to learn about entrepreneurship, develop business plans, and launch their own ventures.
  3.  Competitions and contests: We encourage students to participate in academic and skill based competitions and contests, such as science fairs, debate tournaments and art shows.
  4. Internships: We suggest opportunities for students to gain real-world experience by shadowing professionals in a variety of fields and by participating in internships or apprenticeships.

What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education in your department?

I can list few of the challenges that I have faced in trying to uplift the quality of education in my department:

  1. Time constraints: We struggle to find the time to plan and implement high-quality instruction, especially since the session duration is less compared to the amount of syllabus.
  2.  Lack of student engagement: Some students are not motivated to learn, which makes it difficult to create an engaging and dynamic learning environment.
  3. Limited resources: Budget constraints limit our ability to invest in new technology, instructional materials, and professional development for teachers.

What are the interventions and approaches you bring in apart from the curriculum to train/teach the students?

  • Differentiated instruction: I use differentiated instruction to tailor my teaching to individual student needs, abilities, and learning styles.
  • Project-based learning: I focus on Project-based learning that allows students to apply their learning to real-world problems and develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Formative assessment: Formative assessment involves providing feedback to students during the learning process, allowing them to adjust and improve their performance.
