“One step at a time”

The College initially had only BSc. Electronics, BSc. Computer Science and BCom with Computer. Considering the heavy demand one more UG Course BCA and one PG Course, MCom, MSc. were started subsequently.

A proposal has been submitted for commencing one more PG Course i.e MSc. Electronics in the coming academic year 2020-21, preliminary inspection by the University authorities have been completed and sanction expected from the Calicut University and NOC from Government shortly.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

“There are vast topics that we put emphasis on to sensitize our students”

Our institution focuses on the holistic development of students and provides ample opportunities for all the blooming talents in curricular and co-curricular activities. Apart from the annual sports meet and arts festival, our students actively take part in intercollegiate competitions and University meets. With special emphasis on girl students, a women empowerment cell is functioning in the campus conducting regular seminars, workshops, and interactive sessions with eminent personalities. We observe a very strict anti ragging policy and the anti ragging cell ensures the occurrence of any such antisocial activities on the campus.

I approach my work with passion and enjoy the result of hard work and always willing to appreciate and give credit to the stakeholders.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and the College of Applied Science, Chelakkara specifically?

“Acquiring the best resources as faculties to prepare the students”

The reduced job opportunities for the general stream of unskilled candidates within the country can be seen as a challenge. One more potential challenge in my point of view is the need for molding the thought process of students to prudently associate in Political activities and optimal use of electronic gadgets and free access to the internet.
