Fashion Design is an alliance between fashion, creativity and technology which comes together to create the most fashionable design trends which shapes cultures and the lifestyles of the people. This is one of the most sought after programs, the Faculty of Fashion Design at Parul University offers a four year bachelors program in Fashion Design and Technology, which imparts within the students the relevant and practical aspects relating to fashion design.

The program of Fashion Design and Technology is uniquely designed to specifically suit the creative elements of each and every student as a way of bringing out the creative and innovative design essence within them. The unique pedagogy covers areas like pattern drafting, pattern techniques, Gerber pattern drafting system, textile design, fashion sketching, clothing construction, couture techniques, fashion journalism, costume design, specialty design exploration and trend forecasting amongst others. Over the years, Parul University’s students have emerged to be highly skilled fashion creators in the field through various runways and spotlight shows, further enhancing their design confidence and creative abilities.

Activities

There is never a dull moment for fashion design students at Parul University. The fashion design department of the University regularly conducts workshops, seminars, expert talks as well as organizes several visits to offer students the utmost exposure into the world of fashion and design. On one such occasion, as a way of enhancing the hands-on crafting and designing skills of the students, Ruma Devi was invited to the campus for a talk session which was coupled with a workshop. The Rajasthan based artisan instructed the fashion design students on the significant elements of handicraft. Another expert talk was marked by the presence of the famous Bollywood Fashion Designer Anna Singh. The two time National award winner conducted a master class for the students and ignited their passion for design. 

Co-curricular events

Apart from the regular activities, two major events are organized for the fashion design students to engage in hands-on practical learning. 

Architecture, Fine Arts and Design Expo- This is an annual exhibition for the final year students of these fields, wherein they showcase their final projects. Students receive a chance to explore a diversified blend of projects with themes covering the various aspects of political, environmental, psychological, cultural and social elements. 

International Art and Sculpture Festival- Under this segment a series of global workshops were conducted for the students with an intention to develop various skills sets required to evolve as a designer and understand the principles of working with different materials. The students were given an exposure to numerous forms of design and creative skill sets in the field.

Global Exposure

An added advantage of studying in Parul University also includes the University’s enriching global opportunities and exposure, which the students can avail throughout the course of their academics. Eight students of Design took part in a semester exchange program in Lithuania Tartu, where the students got to learn the fundamentals of design from a European perspective. This exchange program at the Art and Creative Department at Vilniaus Kolegija, University of Applied Sciences, Lithuania allowed the students to develop a network through collaborative design projects as well as to enhance their design knowledge and abilities.
