Being a faculty of the CS Department, what are your responsibilities towards the students?

"Teaching and guiding students to help them achieve their goals is my responsibility"

Being an Assistant Professor of the Computer Science Department, I need to draft lesson plans and take regular lectures. Plan and teach lessons to the classes. And I also need to discover new teaching methodologies and give special attention to those students who are slow learners. Apart from this, regularly updating myself in line with changing students' needs and industry expectations, make students socially aware and responsible by offering finest quality education, give suggestions for curriculum development of college, monitor students growth and communicate with students' parents on a regular basis are some of the other responsibilities I have to adhere to. 

How do you establish healthy relations with the students?

"By being a good communicator, listener and trusted person for them"

To maintain a healthy relationship with my students, I regularly interact with them to know them in a better way and to address their issues from their point of view. In addition to this, we conduct fun games in classrooms and motivate them to participate in co-curricular activities and establish an amazing learning ambiance outside the classroom as well. 

How do you bring in a practical and industry oriented approach towards subjects?

"We use case studies as example to relate to any concept and by conducting experiments"

For the purpose of enforcing a practical and industry driven approach towards subjects, we use real time case studies and projects to relate subjects concepts and give a better idea about the topic to students. Firstly, we define the vision and mission of every subject, then after teaching to students, we conduct thorough discussion sessions with them and ensure participation of every student. 

Which best practices are offered by your department to the students to help them gain necessary skills?

"Academic and non-academic activities are organized to inculcate best technical and ethical values in them"

We regularly conduct activities and events to improve students' communication, public speaking, time management, leadership, team work, critical thinking and technical skills. And creative learning sessions are also organised to give them a platform to utilize their existing skills and build new one. 

How do you strategize and re-design the curriculum to make it befitting for the students?

"By analyzing industrial and educational trends and including new courses for students benefits"

We draft and re-design the curriculum of our college by keeping in mind the vision and objectives of our institute and also by rigorously analyzing industrial and student requirements so that we can deliver best to students. Then we go for the next steps and identify available resources and areas we need to work more. Lastly, after extensive consultation with academicians and industry experts, we introduce the latest courses and training in it to make the overall experience good for students.

How do you prepare your students to deal with the outside competitive world?

"By motivating them to work hard and believe in the skills we teach them"

We keep motivating our students to believe in themselves and participate in collaborative activities to learn skills like teamwork, leadership and management. We also teach them to stay open minded, help other students in study and build a positive competitive culture in college.

Which extracurricular activities are organized in college to enhance the skills of students?

"Sports activities, social events and technical contests are regularly organized by us"

Our college firmly believes that extra-curricular activities are equally important as academics as they bring out students' hidden talents and provide them a platform to showcase their skills which they can later use in different contexts. Keeping the same thing in mind, we organise sports events, collaborative learning sessions by establishing subject-based groups, social and volunteering activities on a regular basis. 

When you joined this college, what was your vision for it and how are you trying to achieve the same?

"My objective was to make students industry and society ready through my knowledge"

When I joined Shakthi Kailash College as an Assistant Professor, my aim was to ensure students' success by offering them excellent education, inculcating best ethical values such as integrity in them. And making them ready for the outside world by involving them in collaborative activities, promoting diversity of students through events and upskilling students' technical skills were some of my other goals. And I am putting my 100% efforts to achieve all of them. 

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practices of industry? 

"It is backed by skill enhancement programs, finest research facilities and industrial exposure"

The curriculum of our college provides finest quality and employment oriented education to students and comprises events such as peer enablement programmes, workshops, seminars and conferences. In addition to this, we encourage our students to publish research papers and participate in funded programs, to write journals and magazines. Lastly, soft skill training and general discussions are arranged by us as and when required.

How does your college enhance the skills of the faculty and prepare them as per industry standards?

"They are trained through FDPs and also upskill themselves through events like seminars and conferences"

The Faculties of our institute are upskilled through faculty development programs which are generally conducted by IIT Bombay. And they also use a diverse range of learning resources, multimedia and internet to stay updated with the latest trends and technologies being used in industries. Apart from this, we have established a suggestion near the Principal room to take suggestions from students about faculty and events like seminars, conferences and workshops are also organised by our college to make them ready as per corporate world demands. 

What approaches do you bring in apart from curriculum to teach the students? 

"We teach them using pre-recorded videos and by making classroom environment participative"

To educate students beyond curriculum and textbooks, we use different approaches including a feedback mechanism where we regularly monitor the academic progress and performance of our students and give them appropriate suggestions on which areas they need to focus more. In addition to this, we use the concept of active learning by encouraging students to perform experiments for concepts they study in classrooms. Lastly, online tutorials and a friendly classroom environment help me to impart the best quality education. 

What do you see as your college’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?

"Our Alumni, modernized and amazing infrastructure along with faculty makes us strong"

The greatest pillars of our institute strength is definitely our amazing infrastructure, Alumni and their services including guest lecture, internship opportunities and assistance for placement activities. Also events we regularly organize to supplement students' knowledge and make them industry like seminars, workshops and personality development training also makes us strong, because we believe when students are provided with the best facilities they will perform above expectations and this in turn will add stars to the reputation of the college.

Any precious advice which you would like to give to the students for a prosperous career ahead?

"Keep learning and keep exploring new opportunities to utilise your skills"

I would suggest to my dear students to keep looking for suitable internships opportunities where they can utilize their skills and classroom learning and upgrade themselves in areas they need to. Also keep learning new things and never hesitate to ask questions. Stay dedicated towards your goals and always do the things which involve your passion, don't listen to others blindly. Build a network with the brightest minds around you and look for work study programs.
